Hi There,

I'm heading off to Port Stephens this long weekend 30th Oct - 4th Nov 2010.

www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/nsw4.asp

According to the forecast I'll get some NE... So, Fingal could be a good spot to go but...
We are a group of friends (8+) and I'm the only one kiting (sorry for them) so I'm looking for some spot to kite within the bay in a NE trying to get a good combination between kiting/beach/south of the bay and not to far away from the town.

Am I asking too much?

Appreciate any help on this. BTW... Only one 4x4 and first time kiting on Port Stephens.

Cheers

I would give Bagnalls beach a go, it works with the NE seabreezes. Launching is a little tight due to trees, but heaps of room to play on the water. Be warned we have had a very poor month for wind with the exception of the small breeze on Fathers Day. The wind graph looks promising, but we remain cynical.
Enjoy your stay,
Baz.
PS The spit at Fingal is gone and is now a designated navigation channel!

Heading out to Fingal today to check it out. Apparently the the large green and red channel markers are a bit of a hinderance and the wind shadow from the bulk ore carriers is a real bitch.
Constant winds,
Baz.

I hear that there has also been an increase in the number of great white sightings in the area due to the new channel?

They must all be taking a shortcut through the bay to get to Stockton beach instead of swimming around.

didn't a surfer get bitten on the bum around Jimmy's beach a couple of years ago .I wonder what effect the new channel will have on the behaviour of fish and sharks in the area ?

I was the one who started this post... and I've never thought this could've finished on this.
I'll never ever kite in FINGAL BAY or Port Stephens again...
Only thing good about Port Stephens is few local kiters...
