Youll be fine unless you get a bit of that City drain water spray into your mouth - then start glowing at night - growin hair unda ya armpits and turn real scary like

Other than that youll be fine if quaranteened for at least 6months

yeah i've also been thinking doing south perth as point water is way out of my way. problems i see is the beach there is made from shells which changes to mud i believe so you may have to wear booties. And the water is a dirty mud brown as opposed to the clear-ish melville water. doesn't seem to bother the cat guys thou.

give it a go and report back

Ok for all that are interested in Kiting South Perth.. Heres the lowdown.

1. It has to be a very strong East North East wind - to minimize the massive wind Turbulence and very gusty conditions that is created by its suroundings.

2. The water is very badly polluted in there and smells like crap and you will be swimming in it when the wind pockets nearly roll your kite out of the air..

3. If you do stuff up and lines roll around the wingtips - youll get blown straight towrds the Shuttle Ferries

Last but not least - If you drift into their lanes, you may then become Infamous for the banning of all kiteing in Perths Waterways... The media and councils will have a field day and give us Jetski type areas.

For that same reason - we dont kite next to the Freeway Either... 1 lose kite could create a massive accident pile up and maybe deaths also

Ahhh, the Choices we make

Rosy already has a healthy growth of armpit hair so probably not put off by that comment

I've kited South Perth a number of times in the 13 years of kiting and it is great, as there are NO other kiters around BUT you will be doing a lot of swimming as the wind JUST DROPS out ALL the time.

You might get a couple of good runs from the cats to barrack street jetty then all of a sudden your at the western end of the zoo jetty!

I normally go out with my 10.5M RRD Hyper Type II..

I've also had a go in my earlier days in SW wind from MILL ST carpark to SWAN BREWERY on a 5.9M RRD, I think I was the first eva to kite that spot!

Another good one is a DOWN WINDER from pelican point to SWAN BREWERY then an UP WINDER back to pelican point. One day my kite will end up on that STATUE near mounts bay road

whats the water quality like? last time i "swam" in it was on Australia day sky show and therewas lots of suspended mud. Mind you we were one of hundreds of boats on the water hat day so that may contributed to it. If its the same as say Pelican point i think it would be worth a go
