Hi all,
Just arrived to Byron Bay today. I went today to Lenox heads to kitesurf but no one was around.
I am with out a car, and not sure where r the good spots... It could be awsesome if somebody from around who go kitesurf can give me a buzz and I can join...
my phone is 0437591416 - call in any hour for go kitesurf!
Hope somebody will go kitesurf the next days... Thanks, Alon
hi alon. you are right to look south to lennox or north to tyagarah beach. there are lots of crowds and therefore rules about kiting in byron. in case you don't know, have a look here.http://www.nswkba.com.au/locations/north
enjoy your stay.
I have been kiting for the last 3 days at the very Northern end of Clarkes beach and there has been about 6 of us out every day. There are a few surfers about but tends to be much less than other parts of the beach
If your still here see you there.
Apologies. I spoke to a lifeguard today who confirmed that kitesurfing has been banned by the Mayer across the Shire of Byron. You therefore risk a fine if kiting anywhere. He did say it is up to you but it is currently banned. Not sure of any of history or reasons but thought I'd pass it on.
I went up the coast to Lennox Heads instead which has a huge beach with very few people on!!
Cheers
i thought it was only main beach/clarkes beach and the north end of tallows that you're not allowed to ride at?
Best info re kiting byron is at the above link. it has detailed maps specifying rules, conditions, wind directions etc even suggested downwinders.
Guess if a life guard tells you its banned in the whole shire its best to at least move to an unflagged, un crowded beach. I haven't heard of it being banned across the shire.
