Hey Kiting Guru's, I watched a couple of dudes land their kites today up on the grassed area, (up near the car park) where we pump up at Brighton. Out of curiosity is that a red card offence or would you class that as something ok to do ???? Pardon my ignorance if this seems like a dumb question....

That would be Brighton in another state Rob.....no one would be dumb enough to do it at Brighton NSW........or would they.....I don't kite that location any more due to over crowding and other issues, however some of the things I saw lead me to believe that there would be the odd person who would be stupid enough to try it.....

All kiters in Sydney and those visiting Sydney....please take note of the NSWKBA code of conduct.....and pls use your commonsense when kiting ANYWHERE....

If kiting is affected in Sydney by the behaviour of a few dummies.....I'm a comin a lookin fer ya.....and I won't be a happy fox....

Couldn't be Brighton on Botany Bay. Surely no one would be stupid enough try it there.

If its Brighton in WA, then yes it is a red card offence. Dont do it! Everytime I see it done, I send a little prayer that the pine tree will catch it, right at the top.

A few weeks back I saw a tool wrestling his very overpowered 12-13m kite up the walkway (stopping to brace himself from going over the fence several times) before landing on the grass and nearly shredding the kite on the tree.

Best bit was he was wearing a hoody and trackies with his harness. Now that is new..

Just hope in future he does add any onlookers to the Darwin tally.

There is a metal wire fence about 30 metre long with timber post, why would you even attempt to walk down the path with the kite rigged up????
Some people are weird

I land mine on the grass at brighton in vic, because i know that with my 20m lines it'll drop behind a bush, everyone else ends up on the road

If this was in WA, guidelines advise against this.

However, this has not yet been widely publicised. As local and knowledgeable users of the area, I think we should approach people to inform them and perhaps make a new friend!

Brighton UK? Happens all the time, we need the car heads lights, as the daylight hours are really short at the moment.

Same applies to City Beach grassy area. Sand wont hurt the kite, but a messed up landing on the grass will hurt anyone downwind....obvious...
...I am not sure about the prayer though....are pine trees that intelligent...

I admire you guys. It can't be that pleasant. But in summer you get daylight until 11:00pm now that would be good!!

I was 100m away at the kiddies playground and dark as but wifey asked me not to chat to him. I do as I'm told.
