Hi guys,
past weekend we did our Freestyle/Race clinic in Cairns at Yorkeys Knob.
It was a great weekend with good vibes and lots of progression with 25 people participating in the clinics.
There is a lot of talent up north and some guys that we have never seen before up here are riding really well.
Especially standing out ion the freestyle department were Mitch from Mission Beach, Kyle Wright from Port Douglas, Will Smallabombe from Adelaide, Luke Bamford from Cairns and grom Luke Smith who came up from Newcastle for the clinic were showing some impressive riding and progression.
They got some valuable coaching and tips from Andy Yates.
We also got the racing kicked off in Cairns which is great to see some interest and people enjoying riding the raceboard for first time.
The local paper came down prepping for the Cylone that is hitting the FNQ coast tomorrow morning at 4am. Its supposed to be a cat3 now so quite heavy, lots of wind and some swell for NQ.
Andy scored a front page photo doing a slim. Pretty cool as us kiters dont get front page media attention that often.
here is a blog from the weekend.

We are thinking of doing the next one in Alva Beach for a weekend. Kite, party and chill.. I think would be a great time for everybody. Who is keen?
It's like a little poem:
You get way more speed,
and way more height,
you've got way more power in the kite!
Andy's a poet but doesn't know it, or maybe he was just "freestyling" a new rap... see what i did there
.
Quote: "Winds reached speeds of 20 knots on Saturday testing the skills of even the most experienced kitesurfers."
Andy said: It was kind of hard to control the kite because there is lots of wind in it.
Looks like the reporter got the knots a bit wrong![]()
Either that ^^^^^ or WA really IS the place to be........despite the last 2 sad weeks.
Nice to see a positive kiting story.
