Leighton Kiters is a local users group that first met back in April to discuss proactive steps local and regulars can take to keep Leighton Beach open & accessible for kiting. From the start, we acknowledged that we are just one of many groups with legitimate claims to use the beach.
At our initial meeting, we had 8 interested kiters. At the moment, we have over 30 kiters 'registered' on our mailing list.
So far we have met with the Fremantle SLSC to talk about our goals and to establish some contacts with that club. We have also made contact with Fremantle council to discuss our proposal for a designated launch/landing area, rather than relying on the informal arrangement that has existed for the past several years - that no one really knows about...
Stay tuned for more developments and news about Leighton.

And congratulations & thanks to Juddy for being the driving force behind this. I know everyone in the group appreciates his effots.
Perhaps you Leighton slop riders would like to answer a team challenge from the original Melville Kiters for the upcoming RedKite Downwinder.

We are the only team listed so far and we are a bit worried that if we dont throw down the gauntlet others may be just slink away, too scared to pipe up. We are definitely THE ones to beat. We are the invincible - Red(faced) Kiters for Red Kite. Ready for all comers and try-hards.
