Ideas on a suitable wave riding surfboard with a decent low end.
Tried the nugget, great low end but loses performance in the waves. A little too skatey for me. But still an awesome alternative.
Ideas? Something than can be used in 11 to 15 knots on a lithuim 14m kite or 14 to 18 on the 10m?
I weigh 75kg
Cheers
Notice I said lightish, not light wind. Got a board for that. Also have a mutant for medium winds and a shinn monk for cranking powered days.
I have been surfing a 5,8 x 20 x 2/12 Colin Earle in 1-3 ft Perth ****, best board I have ever owned for that size. Had a kite on it in 14-15kn on my 7m and was holding ground allot of guys on 10 s were struggling. It pops airs and turns with performance not like a boatish board. Really big surprise. My new light wind go too. Just pegged 2 new kites too!

Hey Eppo, you buy a lot of new gear!
I was in the same position as you as I have a Sector for seriously light wind but I wanted to get on a surfboard as early as possible, like ~12kn but I didnt want something that felt big.
Marty from Delta sent me up a new board he has designed (Metro: 5'10”x18.5”x2 1/8”) and I have had the demo board out strapless in ~12/13kn on shore and I could get along really well on my 10m Reo and on another day I took it out strapped in ~20kn with a 6m Reo and it was great but I do prefer my smaller Amp in better winds.
The board is in Perth for a while if anyone wants to demo it.
...and yeh Perth waves are **** in summer, like totally crap. Yet there they all are the swarm of kites on surf boards, still don't get it fellas.

You might never look at your twin tips again...!! ![]()
Yeah I've got a whole wall dedicated to your posts Eppo! Actually, I was surprised how easy that little quote was to find - just checked my posts in my profile, and there it was
It was a fairly recent exchange too, so guess that helped. Enjoy the surfboard, you'll be shelving that mutant in no time ![]()
This is the years i rode:
www.airush.com/2011/products/choptop/
its a a great board and with FCS you change fins to suit conditions.
www.northkites.com/products/boards/surf/whip/
and i currently have this board, and its great in flat water and anything upto head high.
I haven't ridden the CYPHER but in my experience square tail boards don't surf as well backhand as a rounder tail profile.
get a demo, i know both boards are readily available in WA.
