Currently based in Perth and I have been looking for some where to travel where there is wind in April... Basically I would like some where that I can get to in less than 12 hours of flights and 3 hours of car/bus/... .
Looked at Mui Ne but I have been told that the season is finished by April.
The latest place I have come up with is Hua Hin Thailand. It has some markets etc to keep my wife happy.
I don't know anyone that has been so I hope someone here has.

Steady SE trade winds most of the time, which get more reliable as you go further north.
There is an unwritten rule in NQ, never plan a reef trip over easter, as it will invariably be bowing 25-30knots.
When do the trade winds start blowing in NE Qld? How far north do you need to go?
