I'm thinking about getting a Protoy this season, however I was wondering if there are any of you out there that have tried the board or own one that could give me your impressions?
I don't have a riding style particularly, however my last board was a North Team series and really liked it. I like stiff boards that are quick to get going and something that tracks upwind well. I want a board that carves well and is not to tiring riding toe side. I've tried the Slingshot lunacy and didn't like it, so I doubt i'd like the 2011 FS series as it has a very similar outline.

Do you not live in a place to demo it? I just spent 3 weeks demoing boards before making a choice. I actually had a lot of fun comapring. It's the great thing about this sport, try before you buy. Sorry but I didn't try the Protoy.
Just updated my profile now to correctly reflect my location. I just wanted to hear other peoples opinions on this particular board before I place an order with Jason! I'm pretty sure I'm happy to go with the Vapor X this season just trying to decide which board now.
you planning on coming up to PNG again this season?
Currently I'm tossing up between the Protoy, North Team Series or the Shinn Luigi!
I'd love to come back to PNG this winter. I had such an incredible time. As I recall, Jas has a pretty huge collection on boards so I'd expect you can find something you like. I just bought a 135 Xenon Laluz after demoing a lot of freestyle boards. I really liked the 132 North Jamie too but I've not tried the team series.
What are you doing in PNG? Living in Moresby?
yeah mate, living in moresbly, i'm flying for Airlines of PNG. I've been reading heaps on the the Xenon Laluz infact I tried what I believe was a 135 the other day. I think it belongs to jas. It seems ok, but the wind was light and quite gusty so couldn't really test it they way I usually ride. Also, although I'm 90 kgs, I really dont like the way big boards feel. I demo'd a 131x40 north team series board and LOVED it. When I went to place my order I was convinced at the last minute by the dealer to got for the 135x42 size because of my weight and I didn't like it as much so after a couple of months I sold it.
I like to ride fully powered up and find that I can really bury the edge with a smaller board to get good speed. I found that with the 135 size boards there was so much "planing flotation" that it was hard to hold a good edge.
The thing that caught my eye about your and other reviews of the Xenon board was about how light it was. Is it true or is it a perception thing. I like the idea of a light board as I plan to do a fair bit of international travel with it and as you know with international travel every gram of weight saving allows you extra weight for duty free

Anyway, compared to your North xride - a board that I know and have ridden how do you compare it to the xenon?

I didnt like the protoy at all, I took it back and swapped for the FS which I really liked.
