RPM 2012 or C4 2012?

Ive flown the C4, hope to be testing the RPM soon...

Really like the Ozone C4


Any thoughts on these 2 kites..... Differences? Similarities?


Also, we get winds from 15 knots to 35 knots
I'm 68kg and like to ride a shinn monk 130x40, Shinn street 133x 39.5 or a North WAM 5'8

can't help you with the rpm.

at 82 pies i can hold my 10m c4 to 16 -30 ish. the fun zones 20-25.
i have a 6m reo and i don't start grinning until after 30 knots.

i suggest if 35 is your max look at an 8m reo/catalyst. So 8,10, and big.

C4 is cranken in the midrange but i find it gets pretty punchy in real silly winds. i prefer a full blown sle +30.

C4 is more dynamic and fun than the reo if your jumping and generally fooling around in the waves. if you want to go hardcore down the line then the reo is better at drifting and down the line riding.

if your alot heavier or lighter than me then yourl need to adjust my advice to suit.

take into account that the 2012 c4 will be considerably cheaper then the 2012 RPM becuase it is almost a year old now, whereas the RPM has only been avaliable for a short period

At your weight for the range you want I'd go 7, 9, 11, or 7, 9, 12 in the C4s. If you add a 6m REO in then add 8m and 11m C4s on top. At your weight for 35knots Id definitely go 6m rather than 8 in the REOs.

ive only ridden the 9m 2011 C4 but totally loved it. Rode in in perfectly powered conditions and everything just seemed to flow so well and a nice bit of slack was had when unhooking too

I also took it out in gusty offshores with the wind out the back easily being ok for a 7m but I had to make it there first with some windsurfing buddies. I was piniging off the water like I was sponsored by NASA! Great sess if a little bid dodge!

However, I wasn't a huge fan of the bar.... prefer a push away and an adjustable bar to save cash but I guess slingy don't go that way either with regards to adjustablility.

Hopefully trying the new RPM tomoz.

Yeah its a shame the new ozones will come out for me just after summer....grrrr.....along with their new bar i believe too!!!

Trouble is, I need kites for our summer, well if you can call it one.... Rainiest June in years but it is WINDY!

I have only ridden RPM once, not a bad kite. 2011 bar was rubbish throughout the slingshot range, just hearsay, but rough on the hands, below the bar depower (some people like it, i think its awkward.)
Ozone bar, comfortable, simple and easy to use and reliable.
Rpm would have more grunt than a C4, therefore C4 will definately hold more wind.
Turning speed like i said only rode rpm once, C4 might be just a slight bit faster.

Im 82kg, run a 8 -11 C4 quiver, i think your wasting your money if you buy any closer than 3mtr difference (too much overlap in wind range, IMO). Currently tossing up between a 15mtr C4 or a zephyr for light wind, i want the C4 but cant find a review or a demo

Im pretty biased towards Ozone kites as a whole and the C4, Quality and performance is almost unmatched if you know how to fly them.
And if Cabrinha is bringing out a kite similar to the C4 It must have something going for it.

I flew the 8/10m 2010 RPM for 18 months and have been on the 2011 C4s (9/12) for the last year.

All down to personal preference however I prefer the C4.

In general the RPM was very grunty which didnt work well with my weight & WA winds. I really struggled with the 8m...it just always felt very twitchy and had a great bottom end but I used to quickly become overpowered. C4 I feel has a much larger unhooked sweet spot.

Both work in the waves but are nothing amazing.

I own the Vegas (7, 9, 12) for freestyle now but had the rpm beforehand. Personally I still think
The rpm is the best all round kite. Bar a little rough on the hands but other than sick kite. Great fun in waves also (used it in waves until a week ago (now sold). Ill probably head back in a season or 2. Saves having 2 sets of kites (I have bws as wave kite now!)

Jump with boardies over your wetsuit then you will be able to get lots of height and the protection of the wetsuit.
