heading to veitnam in oct for two weeks any tips on a great resort to stay at ?
taking my wife around 4 star with a great pool would be a start .
Has to be on the beach without stating the obvious, staying at Mui Ne.
Can you hire a surfboard to kite with as I do both but was worried about the luggage weight and carting it around.
So far thinking of Coco Beach or Cham Villas but would welcome any other ideas.
Hey there, I live in Mui ne and would recommend Coco Beach, its fairly pricey but it really is a great resort...Saigon Mui ne resort is also nice and on the beach as is Blue ocean.All about the same price...
As for wave boards you can hire them here, Jimmy Lewis, best and slinghot brands are all covered...There are a bunch of Aussie guys who run "Vietnam Kitesurfing Tours" that takes you to a spot about 2.5 hrs north of Muine.Its the only reef break here and gives you flat water and on a good swell epic waves..Oct is the start of the high season so should be pretty busy here..

Try The Sailing Club rooms from $70.00 with great food and good prices it's at the top end of the beach with a kiteschool bolted onto the club.

Should be south westerlys switching to North easterlys on the odd day when you plan to go. The winds looking great this week in Mui Ne which is a bitch as I'm in Mackay. 
I have stayed at the sailing club a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Specially if you have a non kiter with you. good location and away from the majority of the kiter learning area. Just about anywhere you pick on the beach side down the southern end of the beach will be fine.
You're a bit early for the typical wind direction though.

Sailing Club or the place next door(to the left looking to the sea).....Search ****tion works great, lots of past advice......Food at .....everywhere....however for a cheap great seafood feed....."Popular Resturant" Yes that is the translation....pick the prawns you want to eat out of the pond..........
And big downwinders to..........oh can't tell you that...(stick a few dong in your pocket for a moto back to town)

I think you should take a dog with you so you wont have to take your kite for a walk along the shoreline like you did last night!
I got back from Vietnam / Mui Ne this week. Not a successful trip, I got quarantined for 8 days in a hospital for unwittingly trying to bring H1N1 into the country and now have a thigh infection from an insect bite 
Still the SW monsoon, so fickle and cloudy. The kite shops are set up from the dry season NE monsoon so thay're at the wrong end of the beach. Very few people at this time of year, heaps of choice you can do a nice double room for around US$15-25 per night. Dunno when it starts to get busy. I didn't bring any kite gear as this was meant to be a back-packing holiday. Gear rentals were between US$25-75 per hour so it would make a lot of sense to bring a kite over and maybe rent a board.
