Hey guys I was thinking about getting some tunes while on the water I rekon it would do a world of good and probably produce some good hard riding
Problem is there are a few waterproof cases for iPods on the market and I've heard mixed reviews saying some of them fail after a while, costing big bucks for new iPods etc. Even some of the earphones can play up. Anyone got a good setup that you can recomend or got stories of problems? I am an intermediate rider starting to unhook and kiteloop so i guess hard landings are on there way ![]()
got one of these if you are interested. have loaded some music on but have never used. I think it cost about $200 18 months ago. comes with waterproof and normal earplugs and a arm band.
make a offer if interested.
if you think for one second that your riding will improve by listening to music while you go through the moves.
then good luck to ya. ![]()
Hey Yeehaa, I was only thinking this the other day.
A friend of mine got some video of me (kiting) recently and seeing it edited with the soundtrack made me think; how good would it be, to be carving it up to the beat of some fast and furious tunes?
I've seen lap swimmers with earphones in so figure there must be some options out there.

music while riding will help keep you focused. It used to be great at the skate parks when they had the tunes cranking everyone seems to push that bit harder.
But as far as kiting and crashing hard normal earplugs can cause damage to your eardrums. I got a set of earplugs to keep water out of the ear while kiting and was told that they need to have a air bleed hole in them to prevent presure from building up in a big crash. So i asume that headphones could cause the same injury.
Often the only way you know there's someone upwind of you is hearing the clatter of their board... music would make people even more oblivious to people upwind of them than usual.
I doubt "focused" is a word I'd use to describe someone with earplugs, more like "distracted".
if u choose to go for the w/proof case option i'm pretty sure normal ipod earphones are w/proof, i've had mine thru the washin machine many times.
I dunno i never understood music when kiting.
I like the sound of waves breaking wind blowing and mates hooting.
Music is better in the car on the way home.
Was kiting at Pt Walter a few years back. There was a dude jumping the spit whilst listening to tunes on his water proof player.
On one run he nearly collected a family with this lines as he powered up for take-off.
We were all yelling at him to pull his head in as he rode off blissfully unware of what had just gone down ![]()
