My new Shinai bamboo build - 137x40.5cm, concave 3mm, rocker about 3cm!

This time equipped with the Durasurf top sheet (scratch proof)!

I was hoping to get it reviewed in the Big smoke, but was bucketing rain for 3 days.

Hope you like it!

Thanks

thats sexual mate. I do worry however that you might not have enough carbon past the foamcore. Looks like 1-2cm. That could possibly delaminate after extended use. Radiusing the carbon out will also reduce the stress riser the foam core insert is creating.

Thx. Good discussion. Let's move it to the boardbuilders forum, would be great to go deeper into radiusing!

No probs, coming:) Last photo, difficult to see but it's about 3cm.

I'll put the fins as well which are great match for this board.

Cheers

Thanks!

I like the flex of bamboo, much, much better for my old knees.

Great looking board, thanks for sharing.
How thick is the bamboo?
Is it laminated (@90deg, like plywood)?

Thanks!

The bamboo is 5mm, vertically laminated. Horizontal is with wide bamboo strips, like 1-2 cm wide. Vertical is much less, like 3-5mm.

This sandwich is:

Durasurf 0.3mm
Fiberglass 180g/m^2
Bamboo 5mm
Fiberglass 180g/m^2
Corecell 4mm
Carbon Fiber
Varnish

That board looks beautiful. Well done with the build and the artistic licence with your photography. A professional visual presentation.

It's a matter of perspective, because the board is closer to the camera it seems bigger than the background objects. Easy to be deceived I know. I used to be fooled by it until I learnt about why it happens.

Sweet looking board, looks like it would be fun.
