Perhaps certain kiting magazine covers - so popular among many male kiters - send a message that puts some women off, or lets them know that their expected role in our community is to loll about in bikinis, not be part of the action?

Hey Mr Float, I was being somewhat facetious, but only somewhat.

I agree about the finesse. Back before the dawn of time when I taught windsurfing, I often found that girls (yes, as in school girls) learned better technique than boys (in early stages at least) because they were less likely to try to muscle things into place, and instead learned to balance and work with the forces of wind, water and gravity.

Hey, I’ve been kiting for a few years and have met some awesome women through the sport. I was lucky enough to go on two CMIOs – an all girl’s trip organised by Cindy Mosey. There were at least 7 aussie girls there each time (who all ripped) – I reckon there might be more girls out there than people realise (especially in WA). I have also heard of some great events (such as Kristin Boeses’ kiteboard4 girls and the girls kite weekend recently in NSW) and there was even a well put together girl’s e-kiting mag floating around at one point. I just don’t think many girls read these forums (hopefully because they are out there ripping!).

Haha, Dojo , what are you on about?– those kiting magazines send excellent messages to the girls out there –eg, those giant fake breast implants I saw on the cover of one would be a good way to protect from those big BL Kiteloop stacks and provide some extra buoyancy in the waves !!

Righto, I’m off to fill out one of these surveys, select my bikini to stand around in on the beach tomorrow and find some god damn bolt cutters for the white goods (I think it’s possibly the fridge that’s been cramping my progression lately!!)

since i last informed you guys that 13% of chicks have filled out the survey, its droped to 12%! which means most of you that are reading this are blokes!

My opinoin is that there a few more girls out there than we see on the water at once, they just tend to have other things to do as well as kite.

In my opinion girls are easier to teach than guys. Dudes have to be amped down, and I generally teach with only 1 finger at each end of the bar (especially wakeboarders, windsurfers etc.) for the first 2 lessons.
Girls/women/ladies... you have to amp up...... Teach them in the mindset of aware but without apprehension and you have the perfect student.

There are plenty of women who rip in WA..... but NO waverider............................ Girls, who wants to get sponsored.....?

by the way - 14 wave riding chicks have filled out the survey so far - 7 are in NSW, 3 in WA, 2 in QLD and 1 in TAz! We're are out there (me included), you just have to look!
