we would like to thank all the amazing people that came to the nationals in Townsville. Even we could not compete due to lack of wind we had a lot of fun and learnt a lot of things, especially the racers. It was great to see everybody being so cool and relaxed and the party times were good.
Much love to the sponsors and supporters- Cabrinha, North, Airush, Ozone, AIMS (amazing weather station), Sports Med, RA Industries, the judges, Yachting Australia, ABC, Townsville Bulletin, Channel 10, THE VOLUNTEERS, the boat crews, TCC, Molly Malones, Martin in Bowen, the Intheloop and Arsa crew, The Island crew, Seabreeze, KBM & Kitemag and Kiteworld, the WA crews, Newcastle Crew, Sydney Suck crew, Sunshine Coast crew, Brisi crew.
See you soon.
Peace*
Yeh bummer about the wind but at least some of us sneeked a good one in on saturday. Check out tribe carew/kite surfing/nationals tomorrow for the photos and u tube later this week for the movie. sean
I think the biggest thank you should go out to you Marv and the intheloop crew for putting on such a great event! Even if we didn't get to ride much it was still a huge effort and as you said we have all learned a lot.
Thanks again and hope to see all of the racers in Melbourne ![]()
2nd that for sure. Amazing set-up on site & racing organisation. Super crew from around country & the racers were all great to meet & share info. To quote Marvin "COOL". ![]()
This guy, Jordan Girdis from Sydney, 19yo, actually had 4 sessions, so 4 days out of 6 he had a decent kite. Explanation - 2 of those days he was using 62M lines on 17M Edge!
Saying that though does not do justice to what he did, I have never seen anyone kite in such low winds. When this pic was taken it was no stronger than 6-7knots dropping to 5. Very smooth wind, but also very light.
There were no whitecaps at all. No other kiters could get going and go upwind and get away from the shore.
And a big thanks to Marvin and all the crew that worked hard even though there was almost no wind!
Hi Marvin,
Thanks for your Fine efforts running the Nationals. Great event, location and crew irrespective if the key 4th Element 'Wind' did not arrive in its normal fashion. The location is just magic. I returned home relaxed and ready to prepare for Melbourne were we can all test our skills. I'm keen to come back to Townsville anytime.![]()
