Hey All, Was wondering if anyone has a kite holiday destination suggestion for a two week break. Somewhere I can eat, sleep and live kite surfing and hang with fellow kiters but not break the budget. Some waves would inspire. Love to hear your suggestions and hope your all coping with the cold in vic. Thanking you in advance for your help.![]()
Hey Wombles.
Kite Surf SUP has some awesome plans in the pipeline.
Dont know what you consider 'breaking the budget' may be but every one of our trips is one of my own personal choices as a 'must do' experience sometime.
Not allowed to 'advertise' here so PM me if you want any details of what I consider top rating trips for aussie based kiters.
Hi Wobbles, Cairns wind is pumping this time of year (no Surf) but has several spots for kiting. Also Kitesurfari doing trips up to Cape Flattery for either 7 days or 4 and is just pure kiting all day. Otherwise head to NZ as plenty of wind and plenty of surf.
Kitethrills have a few gigs at Mauritius, at le morne , ozone are having a wave camp in Bali with Mark rameiser, wish I could get out
Lord Howe pumping 25 to 35 knots NE here at the moment. Looks like 4 to 5 days 20 to 30 knots SW from Saturday on. Season off and started. You should consider Lord Howe it has it all and good deals going at the moment! We are only to happy to show visiting kiters the local scene.
Mauritius is great - flights around the 1200 - 1400 mark but once you are there, there are plenty of cheap options for accommodation and food.
Had a mate that went on the Kitethrills trip with Mike last year.
Sounds awesome - its got it all - big waves, small waves, flat all in the one place.
Plus a top holiday spot besides the conditions - "culture everywhere - chokkas" ![]()

Hi. Had a fantastic trip to Lord.Howe in the windy season last year. My local spot is mainly surf in northern nsw, and I found a great reef break at Lord Howe on the edge of the lagoon, with some excellent flat water kiting on the inside. Wind strength was 15-30 knots most of the week and the local kiters are really hospitable and helpful. Looks to me like a mini.Mauritius, without the millions of kiters. Regularly seems to get about 10 knots more than the.mainland at the same latitude. Can highly recommend this as a Kitesurfing destination when the forecast looks good.
Check out this for some thing special and not too exy either and thats the view from the beachfront accommodation

Hey everyone, thanks for your your suggestions. You guys are awesome. Really appreciate it. Have been to Mauritius and it was amazing. Also ages ago i checked out Cabarete DR and it was super expensive to get to. Did i Get that wrong? Going to check out the rest of the suggestions. Thanks for the kick start. Am a fat kid in a candy store now. Yum Yum. ![]()
Yeah, the DR takes a few connecting flights to get to, but once you are there, its cheap as chips. Accom is pretty cheap (especially at Casa Carmen in the callejon - scarey but authentic, other kiters there too), the rum is practically given away for free and the ladies are next level. Oh and the kiting is amazing too, heeeeps of fun.
But yeah, costs a bit to get to.
sitting in sri lanka on the beach at the moment, drinking beer after an awesome day kiting!! definitely worth it!
talk to the guys of kss altona!
