Hey guys I'm needing help in tuning my first expidition into 5 line kites it's a throwback to yesteryear... a 2006 Vegas. Had it out today and couldn't seem to get it to fly right..when the bar was pulled approximately half way in the kite was 'flaring' out and stalling but when sheeted out it seemed to have the correct shape. Can anyone dig into their memory banks and offer some advice on the correct trim setup. I was flying it on the 2nd knot down at the bar (after trying the top knot but not having enough power) and the second knot up at the attachment point for the 5th line. Bar pressure seemed heavy but that maybe just comes with the vintage
. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!
Hi Slida,
Your back lines are too short, lengthen then by about 6 inches by the sound of it. Set the back line length so that at full power it flares just the littlest bit without back stalling. Easy fix.

So I laid out the lines on the driveway this morning and adjusted the rears to make all the lines the same length..ie front, rear and the 5th line. Is this a step in the right direction??
^yes
and also fly your kite with the 5th set on the longest possible setting. Too much tension on a 5th line also makes the kite stall out and lose power.
