Hey all,
New on here so I thought I would share my latest creation....
I started out landboarding about 8 years ago, looked into kiteboarding around 2004 but living in the UK and relatively far away from the sea at the time, along with the questionable safety in the sport at the time, led me to stick to land.
Anyway earlier on this year I finally made the leap to kitesurfing and am loving it, my only regret was not starting it earlier. As a relative newbie to this water stuff, I'm still finding my feet with some of the board skills and on occasion (twice so far) lose sight of my board, every time I eventually find board the after a while of up-wind body dragging its in the water upside down, which makes it very hard to spot especially with Sunnies on. Already decided I don't even want to contemplate a board leash, so got thinking and came up with this idea (see video), it keeps the board upright almost every time and the bright yellow should be easy to spot on those grey winter days. Seems to work well and am looking forward to the open water tests – ingredients to build = a $12 kids inflatable swimming aid from K-Mart.
welcome to a new chapter of: ideas which make our sport look ridiculos ![]()
you dont need to see your board, just do a good upwind bodydrag,
go far to the left, come back to the right and "magically" your board will appear in front of you ![]()
Welcome to our forums!
Neat idea - saved yourself forking the $$ for a gojoe.
You won't need your creation for long though, as you will find yourself not needing it soon enough! ![]()
At least no one would steal your board.
and if you were sitting around waiting for the wind you would have somewhere to rest your head. Very practical. Keep up the good work.
Another idea. Write on your board your phone number with the name Bambi next to it. I'm sure it will be returned for a chance to check out your missus / gf / daughter who had to pop out. Maybe you could substitute with Big 'O'. ![]()
Hey buddy, do whatever it takes to keep yourself comfortable and out on the water in the early stages. Nothins better than solid fundamentals though, it makes kiting so much better when your comfortable in your chosen conditions.
Have fun with it mate, looks like your off to a good start....
