Late August may be a bit early for Northerlies which is the direction you need for Noosa Rivermouth. However, 10mins South of Noosa is a 15km Stretch of beach from Coolum (launch at Stumers Creek) to Sunshine Beach which is just the other side of the headland from Noosa. This is one of the best down winder locations on the Sunshine Coast. If you don't have transport catch the bus to Coolum and kite back to Sunshine. If you want a shorter distance, go from Peregian Main Beach (launch down wind of flags) back to Sunshine. On a windy day you'll see plenty of kiters out if you want to hook up with someone.
