Hi there,

Just wandered if anyone uses this set up? Does it pinch the kite to much or effect performance with the north bar splitting higher up?

I'm thinking one adjustable bar and I prefer push away releases.

Any thoughts

Cheers

I used my 2011 North bar on my Reo's I till I got an Ozone bar... they flew OK (no noticable pinching) on the North but had a better feel to them using the Ozone bar.
Not sure how the C4,s will go - should be ok.

All new Ozone bar should be out soon.

Ozones use a single front line safety, north uses a two line system.
Advice given to me in the past is that a single line bar can be used on any kite but not the other way around.
So you would use an Ozone bar on a North kite but not the other way around, or the safety would be comprimised.

I used to have north kites and liked there bars, but now ride Ozone and prefer them. I've even gotten used to the release, and the lines don't chew out as quick and bar material seems more durable. It's just those damn bar ends!

I left my bar home once and used the ozone bar on either a core Xr, or North fuse can't remember which one but though it actually turned better from memory more pivotal I think, so I'd think going the other way would have the opposite effect.

Sorry forgot to mention had to fly with no safety and was glad when the ozone bar arrived.
As NickT said, you need a bar that flags to one front line.

Yep, C4 won't flag on both front lines, needs to flag to one front line.

Hi BMAN
As most of the other posters have said, because the Ozone operates a short,pulley-less bridle, the Ozones flag to a single front line.
North Quad bar flags to both front lines and the longer bridle (with pulleys, as is the case with the fuse) allows the kite to flag forward and de-power.
With its short bridle the ozone will happily fly on a North bar with the safety released.
You can fly a North on an ozone bar, but not the other way round.
We have been told that a push away release is incoming as an at-cost update to the current 2012 contact bar, and should have more info after a September dealer meeting, in Exmouth WA, just in time for the start of our season.

... the height of the Y point will make a big difference to the kites performance, especially with the bigger kites.

Back in the day I was using my Naish X4 with its 4 line bar (where the Y point is right down at the depower strap) and it flew fine, then I got a 5 line upgrade Naish put out and the kite flew terrible. After modifing the bar and lines, I put the Y point at 1/3 height as apposed to 1/3 from the top and it flew better.

The North bar has a Y point which is high and pinches the kite in, or 'icecream cones' the kite. I'd say the Ozone won't like the extra pressure pulling 'in' that the high Y point North bar has!

I put my North bar on my Core kite and it didn't like it at all.

cheers,

Robbie

Cheers guys,

That's what i figured.

I'm actually in the UK and looking to get some Ozones. When will the 2013's kites be out then?

Do all their models come out at the same time?

AKS: Is the new Ozone bar going to be adjustable in length? That was kind of my reason for wanting a different brand bar. I can only afford one set of bar n'lines at the mo.
So the new bar is going to be cheaper to all people who own the kites already?
