Basically haven't kited in 3 years due to academic commitments (a full time Masters sucks balls) and want to get back on it.
Used to think I was advanced beginner/intermediate, but now probably just dangerous.
Any suggestions of how I go about getting back on the horse or shall we just suck it and see?
... just go for it. Things have changed in the last few years and for the better. If you got old stuff, just use it then try some new stuff and you'll see for your self how much its changed!
Good luck! ![]()
What gear do you have?
Get down the beach on a lighter day, put kite in the air, get ya bearings back. Maybe even do a few body drags in the water, then the old board drag, keep in front of you etc etc
Basically give yourself an accelerated lesson again.
Again what gear do you have. Has become very safe in the last 3 years, crew are learning faster and faster.
Ps with a kiting buddy if ya can.
Maybe hit a kite school up for a refresher lesson if one is available?
Ride and trash school gear, then have another go on your old gear and see the difference, get annoyed your old gear is old, buy new gear, then, happy days. Or as Eppo said, find a light wind day and give it a go.
I'm running 2009 kites and resist borrowing new ones to demo so I don't end up smashing a new quiver on my credit card on impulse.
If you knew how to kite before, why would you not know how to kite now?
I have to say I have serious doubts about your priorities. You are studying full time for a Masters but could not find time to go kiting? Piss poor effort.
Yeah agree with saying that if you once knew you will be fine. I was the same, I used to kite most days after school and then moved to Adelaide to study, didn't take my gear over because Dad and I shared it and decided to get back into it so bought some new gear start of Summer and nothing was forgotten. Just maybe take your time setting up and launching and also with kiting in general.
Get back out there!!!!
