Hi,
I've found they don't have to be the exact required length, but they do both have to be the same each side!! I replaced mine, with some 4mm cord, just took both old ones out, compared both (about 15cms diff) minused another 10cms off the shortest and there you have it for the new length, not very technical but it worked.
