After watching the Aussie guys bust their ass trying to ride the wave all week, I feel pretty disappointed for them. The event was not completed and so I am sure they were all expecting the allocated prize money to be split amongst the competitors -
When they rocked up to the presentation they were told - No result =No prize money

Not sure how much money was on the table for the waves but anyone know what is the go here.

Also the money for the downwinder which was never run - who gets that???

How can you award money without a winner?

Probably goes back in the kitty for the next round.

There were a couple of wild card Aussies that gave them a run for their money!

I was a judge and I would say that a few of the Aussies had a better chance of winning the event than some of the world tour contenders.

I watched the freestyle finals at Nazza and can't believe they didn't run the waves straight after, waves were small but plenty of wind/light left to finish off, the forecast for the last day was rain, no wind and no surf, fark knows what the organisers were thinking????

I love how everybody is a critic and knows how to do it better. Should band together and run a comp yourselves!!! it would be awesome!

^^^only minimal sarcasm intended. It's a good idea.

Yeah if more groups of knockers got together and ran a comp at their local we'd all have something to do every weekend!

Rowdy if we ran a wave comp down here in Port Macquarie (like where the Nats were run a couple of times) would you guys come and show us you winching skills and keep us entertained while waiting for the wind?

On a serious note that actually sounds like a pretty good idea. (Yes sometimes I can be serious, even though my seriousness may be misconstrued for sarcasm in most situations.) Let me know how it goes.

hahahahahah he's not kidding!!!!!!

Was really looking forward to seeing our local lads and ladies going head to head with some of these guys, and yeah gotta agree with Rowdy, confident that in the conditions we had, from what I saw, there would of been some very interesting results!

Mitu & Keahi for the Mens and
Michelle Blinkhorn & Gisela for the Womens

Can't wait for next year, how's the forecast looking???

I can't agree more. Keahi in the men's absolutely could of won the event, and in my opinion would of with OZI style. With no disrespect to Mitu and Guilly who are both super nice blokes and insane riders and are so good for our sport.

It's a shame that the weather didn't agree and we'll never know. haha

Yeah Keahi was ripping in round one & certainly threw a spanner in the works when he won that heat beating Guilly who is the World Wave Champ forcing him to go through round 2.
