With all this talk about everyone planning their trips for our winter getaways.
Who else is planning on going to PNG this year?
Anyone else from the Newcastle/Central coast area considering it?
Had to pull out last year, but booked again this year.

I really want to come back this year but haven't booked yet. My trip in 2010 was awesome.

Which trip/dates are you going?
Last year Capt Craig took a group way out into the eastern island chains of Milne Bay. They found some places that will melt your brain. After looking at the pics and talking to the tour group i have paid up and got myself on a charter this year. Some of the other local kiters are joining me on an all PNG crew trip of a life time. We plan to go further out again to some spots i have had on my hit list for a LONG time.
There are heaps of flat water sites so i will be on the hunt for surf to mix things up a little. If we find anything worthy this will benefit everyone else as we are first up this year. I can't wait!
hey Ric, myself and a couple of local boys are looking for a trip away
around august, but pretty much want waves none are to keen on
flat water ,hows PNG for that ?
got to make up for almost windless Fiji trip last year ![]()
Hi Shannon8888
There are 1000's of km's of reef out there, the potential to find something special is pretty good. The opportunity to discover a wave and be the first to ride it has me hooked (thats why i am going on the first trip hehe)
I have been following the forecast for this corner of the world for the last few years. Yela (rossal) island normally has a forecast of 8-12ft with 18-25 knots. The wind sits pretty consistently in that range while the swell bumps up to 20ft 3-4 times a season. So hit and miss if you get the peak swell while you are out there on the trip. but you will score lots of waves.
Capt Craig is happy to do down winders too. he will follow in the boat and pick you up when your legs have gone to jelly :)
Hi explorers,
we have 50kg surf gear allowance flying to PNG with some of the airlines so you can bring a lot of toys on board of the beautiful Golden Dawn. In PNG Kiting gear comes under surfing gear.
To answer your question Shannon im pretty certain we will find a lot of waves along the hundreds of reefs we have on option.
On trips before we did big 20km down winders through waves following the boat.
If something goes wrong the boys in the tiny will come and pick you up- easy ;)
We be kiting a new location every day unless people want to stay at spot for longer so lot of different spots which is very exciting to explore.
One of my favorite things on the trips are the 2 chefs that cook up a feast 3x a day and home made cookies after the late arvo kite sessions.
They make everything from Western, thai, png cuisine to fresh caught tuna sashimi.
nothing better than eating good when kiting all day :)
