Planning a trip to this place in October....Bought the trip on an internet deal as normally could not normally afford it but happy days the GFC has some benefit.....

I have a couple of questions if anyone could help would be much appreciated..Looking at BOM wind is historically good that time of year in the Whitsundays so that is not an issue

1. Anyone ever stayed there/Kited there?
2. Wind looks consistantly too strong for my 10.5 Core (5'10 82kgs and still what you would call a beginner) What size kite would suit my frame for 20-25 knots.
3. Any other thoughts/advice

If the common thought is that with not a great deal of experience I should just sit on the beach drinking beer I will gladly take the advice...Just thought it an opportunuity to good to miss as a part of my learning curve...

Any help much appreciated...Thanks

I haven't kited that spot, but kited Whitehaven and a few others nearby a few weeks ago...
South long looks nice.. i sailed past it and thought it looked like a good spot to kite... just behind the resort..

I found the wind strong like the forecast says on the outer reef etc.. but drop 10+ knots on the forecasts for around the islands..(your 10.5 will be fine)

Good luck.. and remember.. if you don't take your gear.. you always regret it... you can still drink beers on the beach if it's too light or too strong...!!
