With summer approaching I need some new gear... so whats hot ladies n gents?
Looking for some sort of 2 kite quiver, 8-9ish and 13-14ish. Got a 2011 9m octane and a 12m flexi atom on a 132 underground.
Tempted to dump all my gear, reset and blow off the cobwebs ;)
Hi Jan,
You are asking a pretty broad spectrum question, a bit like asking what dog should I get? I suggest you tell us a few more details about yourself and where and how you wish to ride, then we can maybe help. Lots of good kites out there, but only a couple will suit exactly your requirements so we need to know :-
Weight
Experience
Where you ride
Style you prefer (If mixed ~ % of each style)
WInd range you are looking to cover
Type and size of board.

ah cmon i gave enough for someone to throw out some ideas ;)
2 kite quiver at those sizes covers a pretty wide wind range
but for the pedantic:
weight = 80ish
experience = plenty
where = pretty much anything goes (WA)
style = lean towards flats+freestyle
wind range = 15-20 on a bigger kite, 20+ on a smaller kite. i find the atom around say 17-22 and not quite right, and the octane a touch too much when its blowing
board = medium to small tt, ill be trying a surf oriented boards tho
Mate, with over 1000 posts you should know better than to call DM pedantic. He's one of the most generous participants in this forum, constantly offering solid advice, and is asking so he can help you.
Usually if someone asks such a general question they're just trolling, or stooging for a pimp, so by giving some detail you also to help to differentiate yourself from the trolls.
Soooo... with over 1000 posts on this site, your going to buy new kites based on someone else's opinion! Have you learn't nothing! Hahahahahaha....
Edit: Damn, beaten by Dj!
@dm thx :).... Once I got over giggling at stoff and dj ur post was great
As for what the dog got well I'm a try b4 u buy kinda guy and the wind ain't blowing yet :(
How's the c4 stack up against say a rpm? Got a mate who I can sponge a ride on one... Think there's local Vegas' to be demoed, dunno who does core here
What are bigger sizes like?? Two of my all time fav kites where 14 and 16 c's both on home-brewed 5lines .... I'm guessing 14ish is around what I want first up
Hi Stof - I think we can all agree that experience / ability can be inversely proportional to messages posted and in relation to kiting...........doubly so!![]()
Hey Jan
Agree with Darren. What suits one wont be right for another so advice here is pretty ho hum.
Try before you buy is the way to go. At Woodys we have the full range of BEST ; BWS Noise & SLINGSHOT kites. SHINN ; NOBILE ; JIMMY LEWIS ; BEST & SS boards. All for demo anytime. Drop in if you are interested in any of those.
My No.1 personal preference advise (to anyone) is dont buy a board till you've tried the new SHINNs.
With as much history of board shaping behind him as just about anyone; and; taking advantage of millions of dollars of R&D spent on snowboard technology Mark Shinn has come up with a range that has to be ridden to be believed.
