Just wondering if anyone has some tips for a reasonably nice play to stay (a getaway for myself and girlfriend) in Port Douglas mid April (maybe the Sheraton?), good places to eat? and anywhere to hire a board to save all the hassels of lugging a board around/ through airports?

Cheers

plenty of very nice B&B in PD if ur coming in via Avalon or Melbourne try and speak to Goshen at Kitepower Geelong or Alex at stonker torquay they may hire you board, If your after a really nice adults only romantic getaway try www.theboomerangs.com/ would highly recommend it.. Its near Johanna on the Gt Ocean Rd

Cheers guys for the Windswell info.

I think I will pack a kite/bar/harness. Looks like about $200-$300 a day for the full kit (fair enough, prob gets a fair beating from randoms). Hopefully will be able to hit up Brett for just a board hire.

I'm liking the look of the Port Douglas Queenslander Appartments.
Now to find a day spa or shopping thingo for the missus so I can sneak an extra session in ;)

Cheers again lads.

Hey Wisha just take your gear with you, Virgin allow an extra 5Kg for sporting gear so with your girlie that's 56Kg of luggage (have kite s**t in at least two bags). I take my windsurfing gear over to WA every year with no dramas so you'll be laughing.

Been raining here every day (Cairns), rain = no wind

You'll enjoy your holiday wind or not

On ebay we scored a self contained unit for a week on Magnetic island in april next week for $300. There are heaps of deals from the hotels in Port Douglas. Should be good.

thanks for the link. looks like onshore winds. Not sure of the hotel name my girl is dealing with that side and I am well behaved where ever I kite.

Hey, as others have said hit up Brett. If you havethe money sea temple is right by where every one kites if not look up places at 4 mile on wot if. Stingers are usually about this time of year. Brett sells and hires stinger suits. Have a good one
