Hey Gang,
Wanted to know how people out there post boards and what you've found to be the best service, price, delivery time, tracking number etc?
Cheers
i have posted a few boards with Australia post.. I think you will be surprised at how cheap it is.. just bubble wrap it and make sure its leaning on something else when they put it on the scales![]()
I've used Pack & Send to get boards around in the past at quite a reasonable price. If you call a Pack & Send office and get a price on shipping it from office to office, it just means you've gotta drop it off to an office and the person the other end picks it up from the office near them the other end.
Last time i did that was about 18 months ago and i think it cost me ~$60 to deliver a kite, a board and a harness.
I had a surf kiteboard posted to me recently.
The seller used
www.transdirect.com.au/
The board went from North Coast NSW to Melbourne (door to door) and it was cheap. Note cheapest is not always the best option. I was hesitant about freighting a surfboard but turned out good from my end. A twin tip would be cheaper. 3-5 days i think they quoted
I was the buyer so don't have full details but can recommend. Don't know about tracking options
The Australia Post 105cm rule is just to stop everyone doing it - if you walk in and be friendly with your local post office they usually let it go through... I remember sending a 148cm via Aus post a few months ago...
Make sure you insure it for everything it's worth though!!! Had 2 boards go missing on us this year...
Oh, and make sure it's an odd shaped box so they can't cube it... Actual weight is a looooot cheaper ![]()
cheers for all the comments guys!
so a bit of hint hint, nudge nudge, say no more ;) ... gets the job done with Auspost
and i agree with insuring the life out of it! nothing worse than something going missing and each party getting screwed ![]()

!
anyone have any ideas with pricing figures, the guy that sending me the board (from sydney to hobs) said everywhere he searched it was 65+ and then referred him to www.transdirect.com.au/ (thanks pedro) and he got it for 35
anyone have any idea how much postage with others would be? aka AusPost?
I just sent 2 kites, 2 bar/lines and a pump from NSW to Vic via Aust post for $23. TNT were going to charge $58 - go figure.
I always thought that they were the most expensive.
And Rhys is right, go in early before the rush, smile a lot and i think they'll bend the rules.
