It seems strange that the media has been slow to pick up on president Obama's secret agenda on his tour of the pacific .He has visited the kiting mecca's of Hawaii, Canberra and Darwin and now onto Bali (reflecting his all round preference for glassy flat, gusty and waves.)There was gaping hole in his 24 hr oz visit where he had an hour to spare in Canberra and then 45 mins in Darwin where his whereabouts were unexplained and unaccounted for .(I wondered why that insurance company made a strange offer in regards to him being eaten by a croc in Darwin ,now it all makes sense) It also expalins the huge enterage of support planes and vehicles to cary his kit Aparrently Michelle is much more than a kiter babe and is in on the act as well .(Is there a photo somewhere of him carrying her around on his back while kiting?)

To born to kite,
Really???? I think you better blame the Bush family and friends and keep going back to the trickle economics of the wonderful (not) Regan years. Obama had no hope of repairing a very sad state of a nation. Too bad the small minority of people in a beautiful nation such as the usa can screw it up so badly for all. I can say this from experience, cause I am an expat who left over 25 years ago because of the absolute arrogance of that said small minority.
If Bush were a Eastern European leader, he would be tried for war crimes. Dig into recent history and read what are now public documents and judge for yourself.
Usa is in the crapper and a declining state. Strip back the defense spending and put into social welfare systems to get people back on their feet. AND get rid of Walmart! and that mentality of strip malls. Perhaps its too late.......

No point playing the blame game - Gillard will put a Carbon Emission tax on any 'Warheads' entering the the countrys airspace - and that will stop any futile attempts by invaders....

... they blocked off a heap of roads so Darwin's water front (where I work) was blocked and I couldn't go home. I tried to sneak down some back roads via city center and I ended up stuck near where old prez was doing some standing around speech thing.

I had to wait 2 hours so I walked to a little shop to get a drink then go back to the car and wait it out! I walk into a corner shop, 1 minute later I come back out and the path was blocked off, so now I'm seperated from my car and stuck behind a fence with hundreds of police and undercover guys who were trying to blend in but stood out like dogs balls. After an hour of standing around prez and his thousands of cars drive past. I was close enough to see the whites of his eyes and we made eye contact for sure. He even smiled and waved at me.

We still had to wait for another half hour even though he was miles away now, WTF is up with that! All these people, all these police and under cover dudes, just standing around and waiting.

Lucky for me the wind wasn't up, I might have made the news trying to jump the fence, running for the car yelling 'winds up dudes'. ''time to pump up guys".

Doesn't Obama know his tour is DOW.

see ya,

Robbie

If we become the 51st State of America (not to far off by the sounds of things) Maybe we will be able to buy cheaper kites in the country, cheaper cars, cheaper petrol (oops sorry gasoline), cheaper houses and have high paying banker executive positions, pay lower taxes, be married to a beauty pagent queen and live happily ever after I think I'm dreaming

I really want a War mongering nation to be my best ally?

And I want them to come over to our country and antagonise our biggest trading partner too.....

For all those that believe the world is all " kittens and rainbows "
Who are you little girls going to run off crying to, if the $hit hits the fan for our country?

We are 25millon people on a massive continent with untold wealth in minerals and agricultural potential.... We need a protection strategy..... Who are you going to side with ? China ? WTF..... Remember tiananmen square, human rights abuses as long as your arm.

The US has it's failings but on the whole they are a good country with similar morals to ours....

Don't judge the American people based on a few presidents
And don't completely judge a few presidents without ALL the facts of each situation.

But the first post does get me thinking...... COMMANDO's ON KITEs
Think about it ....
Black kites commandos in black wetsuits storming into the shoreline under the cover of darkness, in total silence and undetected by radar ....... They can hit the QR when they hit the shore and attack the enemy. Or. Silently pack down and stash the kit for an offshore pickup after the mission is complete.......

WE DONT EVER want to be the 51 st STATE of THe U.S.A.

THere economy is SO screwed up. HUge numbers of Homeless, little to no social safety net, health , medicine etc and very little social justice or compassion.

Adults working for $6.50 an hour (min wage)in a huge number of occupations. If you havent got a college degree your almost doomed to live in a cycle of poverty.

USA is a huge competetive rat race of bullying rich people exploiting the masses. Trouble is they all seem to think this is O.K.

Austarlia might have its problems but I was really glad to get back here after a trip to the U.s. Great trip and probably a great place to live if you are rich...

There is no American DReam, its all a nightmare....(the only good thing is the value for money ski resorts....

Old Jenkins is spot on. Its a real shame, and most of the Merican people are good people who are getting screwed while they are being brainwashed by the big fat controllers. If you don't believe it, head on over and spend one day watching tv in your hotel room. 7 out of 10 adds are for pharmaceuticals trying to pitch their bullsh it act for symptoms of anything you might or might not have. Dupont, Monsanto, Halliburton, Bechtal, they are all large companies that have exploited small countries while getting and staying at the top, under the banner of the stars and stripes. Those companies have no moral fabric and live for a bottom line...period!
Australia is an awesome country, and they got most things right when it comes to looking after its people. It ranks 2nd in the world as being the best place to be a mother and raise kids, next to Norway.
The international community would NOT let a country like China take over, it just won't happen....not in this day and age. Yes, its good to have American allies, but we DON"T have to model the American strategies that have failed so epically.

One more thing, just a point to see where things can go so wrong. Read up on the history of Walmart, and what it has done to small towns across America. It is a ruthless campaign that exploits cheap labor with cheap products that people think they are getting a great bargain. That is until they lose their business cause they can't compete, and they end up working there for 6 bucks an hour. Suddenly those cheap products are expensive because they can't even afford the crap that they are selling. Vicious cycle of entrapment.
I wish I had solutions to these problems, and sometimes it gives me such a headache thinking about such a large amount of people suffering when they shouldn't be, and the only relief is to go and kite. (yes I imagine my kite is made in China, but I bought a Griffin Kite which is ozzie company which I am very happy to support, and a great kite!) My surfboards are made locally, and I often trade my skills to other people for their skills in order for us all to be doing something that keeps us going.
Just food for thought. Now go kite cause today should be happening here on the southcoast.

I recon da Pres would make an awesome kite surfer. Excellent posture, great delivery and a smile to boot...........and he plays a good game of hoops. I see him doing huge boosts with board offs and nice smooth rotations.

Be greatful and feel yourself lucky that you can live here. Countries have histories and no one knows the future............America was once like Australia and still is the land of destiny for so many.

But, yea Obama is a good man and would make an excellent kite surfer.

He didn't get out for a kite today, I saw him having a round of golf at Royal Melbourne instead. I reckon he would've been kicking himself, cause half way through his round the southerly picked up. Probably why he dropped a few shots, too busy looking at the swaying tree!

If you've watched the people here (usa) working for $6.50 hr you would think they are overpayed....unfortunately most have lost their work ethic here...

I have a small business and pay $15-20 hr... 1 in 10 last a month, they quit because they cant text or need a smoke break every 30 mins.....

We are definately a country in decline......

The US has undoubtedly been the most prosperous nation in recent times with a massive middle class and is world leading in many areas.

Americans are as friendly as Australians but without the tall poppy jealousy of Aussies. They believe in individual freedom, enterprise and consequent reward . They are rightly suspicious of Govt and the welfare state.

Your observations and perceptions of the US are prejudiced.

My staff have an excellent work ethic .On the other hand in my so called family business my kids swan in after being at the beach and demand food right when I am trying to pack up and go home and collapse .When i get home the place is a pig sty and 'Whats for dinner "? is the usual greeting .Any requests for assistance with home domestic duties is usually met with contempt .i don't have the energy to remonstrate or explain why i am dissapointed .I speak to other families and they have similar stories .

We are a country in decline

I work at the ABC network in Darwin and Obama made me have the Most stressful day.

6 live Crosses
6 Live feeds to ABC24
and countless segments sent around the country.

Ridiculous.

I have just discovered that not only does the President covertly kitesurf but also rumoured that he moonlights as an actor on the TV show breaking bad in his spare time (Gus the restaurant owner who runs a sideline business that helps pay the bills )
