No one is selling used WAM's from 2011, Is it because they are the best board ever :) I tried one for a few minutes and it felt good..great! I've seen lots of North Whips for sale, and North 2010 boards, Cab's and miscellaneous. It makes me want the 2011 WAM more!

Was there a problem with the 2011 WAM?, my 5"8 is still going strong (love that board) but if it breaks, I will have a good excuse to get the 2012 model.

Have they changed much for 2012?

Hi salt,

We had three WAM 2011 owners who were trading up their boards for the new 2012 models coz they love shiny new stuff .

We traded in 2 x 6' WAM's and a 5'8" WAM. I had a buyer who waited for over a month to get the 5'8" when it finally came in. He was very happy.

The other two 6' WAM's came in at the same time. One sold within 60 minutes of it returning to the shop, the other sold two days later.

These type of boards sell before they get anywhere near the Buy and Sell. They were a very popular board in 2011 and were, and still are, in high demand. I don't know of anyone actually breaking one, although North actually warranted repairs to one with heel dents (try getting that through your local surf shop)

Unless you know of someone with a 2011 5'8" that you can convince to trade up, you're not likely to find one second hand. I'd start saving a little harder for a 2012. Most good North sellers will have stock in all sizes already.

Hey, dudettes, that was a joke! I have heard of no issues of WAMs breaking. Dont wish to destroy good reputations!.

I have a 2011 WAM 5'10.

Its been ridden heaps and is still brand new.

If you want one surfboard this is it. Rocks 5 fins so you can quad/thruster as you choose.

Ive ridden the WHIP (smaller nuggety bro) and the Kontact (older bro on steroids)

Great if you can afford 2 board but the WAM covers both well.

Go get one.
