I think Melbourne is handier for a local quick spot and some areas around the bay but Brisbane has fantastic beaches about 1hr to the north or south and a warmer climate in general. Brisbane local area is pretty average though - bay water and no waves worth mentioning.
Melbourne has a lot more to offer for general living, especially music and food etc. Brisbane is a 'sleepy' city.
Come to Adelaide, second windiest city in Aus and the city is only 10mins from the metro beaches.
An hours drive south and you get great waves, 30min drive and you also get waves in the winter. Plenty of flat water spots....
Its the place to be. Plus we hold the best State Titles in Australia.....
thanks for the responses guys.
Does Adelaide get sea breezes etc? I'm going to be stuck in an office 9-5 but being able to access evening sessions is a real drawcard for me...
MELBOURNE has sea breezes from october to march , at city end of bay .Wave sailing 1to 2hrs IF you like money and good job opportunitys ,restaurant cafe life BUT for warmer weather Bris/ Ade
