* The following pic and text is from a current thread on another kitesurfing forum.



"I went to help a fellow rider who was in difficulty. His kite was down and he'd released the chicken loop, but the kite remained powered. He had his leash attached to the handlepass strap around the back of his harness so was being dragged along backwards. He was being dragged under and starting to panic a little, and couldn't find (or didn't know about) the leash quick release. I rode between him and his bar and grabbed hold of his leash to take the tension off him so that he could release his harness. I then got hit by a gust and my kite pulled me away. I let go of the leash, but not quick enough. Fortunately it gave him enough time to release the harness bar, and he was able to release the velcro waist strap."
