Hey,
So I've had a few lessons and just bought a kite and was wondering if there were many kite surfers around the Rocky area? Would be good to get to know others in the sport...

Hey CJai, head down to Yeppoon when it's windy, there are a few guys around that you should see out if the winds blowing.. If you're only learning head up to Farnborough where there's heaps of beach space and less people, much safer while you get on your feet (:

I'm out with a knee injury at the moment, but I'm usually down there whenever it's windy and I'm not stuck at work!

PM me if you need to know anything else, will hopefully see you out in a few weeks time when I'm hopefully all healed up

Not a kiter CJai but there's a solid crew that kite from Keppel Bay sailing club (You'll usually see me way off Wreck Point in a SE or over main beach in a NE windsurfing). The local kite crew are all very respectful on the water and usually stay down wind. The sailing club is good in a SE but could be a bit tricky if only beginning in a NE as the mouth of the creek and the rocks off Fisherman's beach is very close if something goes wrong.

Do see a few kites on Farnborough beach (north of the rocks off main beach) which has an endless stretch of sand on any tide. Great in both a NE and SE but better to do it with a buddy. Look forward to seeing you on the bay.

PS - was that you down last saturday when your kite blew up the beach as you were sorting your strings oops I mean lines out? We were yelling out to whoever it was but I don't think too much damage to kite was done.

That was me sausage! Such a rookie error, but kite is good, just two small tears thankfully.. My knee isn't so good, I fell out of the tree after I'd gotten it out and have done ligament damage, oops!

Argh bummer - sorry I couldn't stick around to help as I had to sail back to Lammermoor. conditions were pretty strong with winds up around 30knots. Hope the knee gets better soon.
