Just wondering (I know it is a little far away) if the rottness to leighton race will be on in 2011. An if so is it hard to get a starting place. Last year I noticed only 50 kiters are allowed to compete. Cheers

WA is very underground in June .... Hey it's raining again and it's a stormy NW 25 to 35 Plus knots on the beaches this arvo, a 5m is almost sane ... with lightening and thunder off shore as I write this .... My favorite at the moment is late night TV & UFC. ... Go hard Mr Kimbo Slice.

Maybe go to the WAKSA AGM in July!

Any officials want to let us know if it has a high chance of being the same date as last year?

It is a fair way off still. The X-Fighters are coming in September and that is being kept hush hush for now with regards to venue and tickets.... thats how redbull roll. I will ask my contact at Redbull and see what I can find out....

I don't know, give Kimbo a go in a back street and I reckon 99% of the cage boyz would run a mile .... crazy back street LA ... I prefer the strikers, I find the ladz who do the ground game very boring and weak...

As Dana White described Kimbo : "toughest dude at the BBQ".
He is good because he is so hard core. But too one dimensional. Need the whole package in UFC or your gonna end up on your back with your ankle tucked into your ass tapping like crazy.

Still its awesome that he kites and is doing the race.

jonno keys i dont no about you but if u have ever wrestled with anyone who has jujitsu experience ull find that there not weak and the **** they can do to ur will hurt for alot longer then a bruised up face. i know from having a lovely older brother who has done both...
So i suggest u go and experience it before u make comments.

Kimbos just 1 ugly, street fighting dude, reminds me of a few ladz I had to avoid in NZ when I was growing up, luckly my 100m sprint was pretty quick. Kimbo loves to get pounded... go Kimbo, Back to the main story - go to the AGM and we may find a little more about the RED BULL Rotnest race so I was told last week, but no other info givin at time.

but I have done 5 years of full contact Kyokushin karate & kickboxing in NZ when I was playing Rugby, lots of fun when you are young and dumb. We were pretty lucky and trained under the NZ kick boxing champion, he was also an after hours crazy street fighter, he was really one hard dude who loved to get pounded, me being 6ft 5 and him 5ft 10, I shoulda been able to take him, but he was very scary when he got fired up. The fun of growing up in Whakatane NZ. These dayz my 11 year old son Harrison can beat my arse, so "OK" you win dude ..

I love this forum you meet the nicest people ... OK

maybe you could tie in an OK v johnno grudge match pre cursor to the red bull race
or make it the the" east v west war on water " extra pointy race boards or something
i am still waiting for velasquez to come back from injury he looks like a beefcake but speaks very intelligently!!

... ya don't yanna end up like Shane Carwin in his last fight, that dude's got heart though!

Back on subject, well sort of, can normal weekend type of kiters get a look in at a spot in the race? Will, or would, the race be opened up for more that 50 kiters? Seeing the fun you guys had, I'd love to have a go!

cheers,

Robbie

... Like me once! My missus is (well was, she doesn't train anymore) a blackbelt in Tang Soo Do. She is 5'2" and I'm 6'4" and 120 kg. Some days she'd come home and practice, sometimes practices on me, just to practice stuff she just learnt. One day being a little under the influence of Heinikens, I decided to get smart and use my bulk and resist the technique. Moments after, I was pinned on the ground, face on the carpet saying sorry for being a smart arse with my arm somewhere it isn't usually at. I'd say this Jui Jitsu type of stuff works hey!

cheers,

Robbie

Yeh, Damo you are right, but give Kimbo at 36 plus , 10 years off his age & the assorted white powders, 6 training months with St -Pierre & BJ Penn , 6 months with Josh Koscheck, and 6 months with the master Anderson Silva and Kimbo would
last a few more seconds with the masters.... don't even mention the heavy weight fighters

If everyone was the same what a boring world we would live in....

Love the street fighter coming up against the Number 1 karate guy in the world in the UFC, way crazy.
