I have a 2010 switchblade and looking at a big 2008 switchy for light wind days. I haven't been kiting long so not sure how much difference I should expect. WOuld a 2008 sblade still be a good kite? Does it have the depower system? any info much appreciated.

Thanks.

For light days consider a kite built specificly for light winds. Big kites are slow to turn and heavy. Sometimes a smaller lighter faster kite will work better on light days.

Also, consider the cheaper option of buying a bigger board which will last a lot longer than the kite for half the price.

How light are you looking at? I used to have a 16m Cabrinha Contra when big kites for light wind were the thing to have. I find it quite boring kiting in really light wind with a big kite. If you're looking at getting out in 10 - 15knots then a 14m sblade should do the trick. I've had a 14m SS TD1 and a 2008 Sblade 14m in the past. They are both good for around the 10-13knot mark. Under that I don't bother.

From my limited knowledge.
On light days Steve from Kitepower, who could pick any kite in the shop, would be out with an Ozone Zephyr or 13m Ozone Lite (now Catalyst) and a big board.
