I am often asked "is it true about all the sharks here?" . Here is a little video taken years ago by a couple of local fishermen.. A current affair came up here to do a story after seeing this YouTube clip and on the day of filming they caught no less than seven white pointers.. I definitely don't want to deter anyone from coming up here.. For many many years i have surf/kite and SUPed here almost every day.. And i have only been attacked 4-5 times none of them being fatal. And of the hundreds of sharks I have seen. most of them have been under 8 ft..

?????? WTF??????

Yes, you must be getting quite bored of those piss weak little sharks with their ineffective non fatal attacks, hardly worth getting out of bed for.

I know the numbers, if sharks wanted to eat people they would feast each day on the east coast in summer. I can see them sitting out the back at around 5.30 am.

Big scary shark 1: "What time is it? I'm hungry."

Big scary shark 2: looking at watch "About 5.30, first clubby should be having a swim soon."

Big scary shark 1: "Those clubbies are a bit crunchy, but anything will do to wash the taste of that pissty I bit at 3am, ugh, I hate the taste of VB, how can people drink that stuff?"

Big scary shark 2: "I'm hearing you, give me a tooheys drinker any day."

Big scary shark 1: "Hey, here comes the dawn patrol."

Big scary shark 2:"Sweet, no wetsuits either, I love summer."

I get that they don't really want to eat people, but still, every time I see one, my arse hole slams shut so hard I punch a hole in my speedos before I scratch, scramble and blunder to the shore like a traumatised, asthmatic infant.

I have seen guys stay out in the water after a shark sighting, 'thins the crowd' they say as a happy afterthought.

My questions are. Are these people brave, insane or incredibly stupid?

Can I/do I want to learn to do this?
