Hey Guys,

Just thought of an idea, impregnating silicon sealant into/onto depower and safety line.

It will be a messy job but could be worthwhile.

I know it may stick slightly when moving the bar up and down but it must be better than fluffy word rope instead.

I am hoping that it will wear the silicon off rather than weaken the line.

Has anybody tried it or is there and alternative other than wax?

Cheers
Rich

Sailkote is OK and easy to apply to the depower line but I prefer soaking the line in molten candle wax

sounds like a cool idea. The starter rope I'm thinking of is thin, does it work with the cleat and can you pull it easy enough when you need to depower quickly with out hurting your hand?? Also, is there any stretch?? Just wondering!!

Thanks,

cheers,

Robert.

works fine with the cleat, its the same material used on the north kites already just a tighter weave , doesnt stretch , when it does finally wear it has an internal rope so that if it snaps the outside weave your not floating out the back with a down kite as the internal rope still holds, only thing different is that the tighter weave makes it a little more rigid which i prefer anyhow so works for me.

If you wax it doesn't it attract / collect sand?

Just curious...

doesnt seem to it more just gets worked into the rope and then it just seems to make it slide a little easier and wears the rope (and the bar) out less. having said that some people wear the ropes out VERY quickly while riding in the surf hooked in.
