34 kms - pffffttt.
Nothing more than a short training ground.
The channel bw Oz & PNG is 198kms.
And Im only 2 months younger than he is - not to mention a little less affluent.
We still have two kite places for this history making; Guinness Book of Records breaking; adventure of a lifetime.

Also may have spots for the 6 day Bike & 3 day Hike legs and will certainly make spaces for any riders or hikers to make 2 or more WA team entries.

PS cant really see how being the 'oldest' to do anything is anything to be proud of :-( but hey theres SFA you can do about it except keep on keeping on.

Bruno Sroka has broken crossed the English Channel and established a new record time. The French kitesurfer traveled 100 nautical miles (186 kilometres) in 5 hours.
The previous record was set in 2004 by Manu Bertin, with 5 hours and 20 minutes for 95 nautical miles. The achievement lasted for eight years, but Sroka decided to challenge it in the year of the 2012 Olympic Games, in London.
"I am very delighted to beat the record and push the limits and prove that kitesurfing is not only the beach sport. It can be a tough and serious project," says Bruno.
The average speed that Bruno maintained during the crossing was of about 20 knots. He rode in challenging swell that was up to 3 meters high in the middle of the Channel and with winds gusting up to 60 kilometres per hour.
The next goal for Bruno Sroka are the 2016 Olympic Games, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has already won three World Cup titles and the kitesurfers wants to hang around his neck an Olympic gold medal.
Bruno Sroka is also the first and the only man to kitesurf for nine hours around the Cape Horn. In 2009, he crossed the Gulf of Aqaba, in the Red Sea, to send a peace message for the countries with civil wars. In 2011, he kited around the Pointe du Raz, in Brittany, to show his support for two kidnapped French journalists in Afghanistan.
