Beware , glass every where from Leighton surfclub to Artifical reef, broken car side windows I counted about 10 broken car side windows last night. This has been happening for a few months and seems to be on the rise.
If anyones sees a new 2011 Ozone Edge 13m green For Sale let me know and I will get this low life locked up. Not a lot sold of this type of kite in WA so far this year. Call me on 0401 603 838. Johnno will be on the tail of everyone with 13m edges.
Happened about 5.30pm just on dusk. Beware these dudes are doing people every night. AAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Sounds like you got lucky to me.
Watch out if your around Ballina Lennox area as well, meth heads have been smashing heaps of windows. They have been driving a red sedan and only taking wallets so far.
Spewin Johnno!
what bastards, maybe put an ad in quokka under kitesurfing equipment "wanted, big green kite like they use at leighton and stuff, will pay top dollar" you'll probably get a call...he might even throw in a bike as a bonus.
lucky they didnt get ipod/ipad or cheque...maybe leave your wallet in your car, inside a pair of workboots, they'll never go near a pair of them...you could even put a shovel on top of the boots to be absolutely sure
hope you get your gear back!
Crime escalating on leighton beach!
Its probably not those indigenous suspects but the desperados from the new leighton Beach Flats lowering the tone of the area.
Having had to finally front up with the 4 million bucks for their beach front flats that are now worth less than half that [or face the wrath of Mirvac Fini's lawyers], they have turned to desperate measures to meet the mortgage payments.
Bewares those dodgy dudes in Aston Martins flogging 'second hand' Ozones from the boot.
Scumbags. Karma will get them
Its a bit of a walk but safer for the car n stuff to park the other side of the bridge on Stirling Highway at dodgy times.
Johnno, check the local cash converters and pawn shops..... these ****s wouldnt be kiter or surfers, they wont be selling on seabreeze.
That sucks man
Hope they are desperate and cash them in and you can track them down
I reckon the above would be right and they don't even know about SB
keep an eye on ebay and drop into a few porn pawn shops
Probly best not to even alert them as they might have a vested interest in making money and might hide from you, just rock up and ask if they got any kites forsale
Sucks man!! Always take photos of your toys and especially the serial numbers.
With CC and pawn shops- if you see your gear there, don't approach the manager. By the time you report it to the cops, they will move the goods on to another store. Just walk out quietly and get the local cops. They are usually helpful and sometimes will even let you know who the thief is and where he lives :) then you take some maori mates around and give them a thrashing!!
Worked for me!! Got my stuff back and my two Maori rugby teammates got some boxing practice in ![]()

Concrete shoes work well too...
Sorry to hear your kite got stolen.
However - if your car got broken into and your property got stolen, your house and contents insurance will cover it - too bad the kite was new, otherwise you would have gotten yourself a free upgrade.
Most insurance policies only cover $1000 on sporting goods. It's always a grey area also if the car was not parked at the premises.
I listed my kite gear a while back $5000 worth of gear costs me $40 a year. Haven't needed to claim yet, but it's good peace of mind.
Nickt who was that through . Really dose any one get there gear back . Sorry to hear you lost your gear hope you get it .
Always hate hearing about people getting there stuff flogged. If you do find the c**ts, let them know how pissed it makes us to get gear stolen.
Oh man that sucks big time. I have a mate who teaches the under privileged at a community school in Hammie Hill he reckons that"facility"near the North Freo train station houses the rejects that his school won't even touch!!! bet if the cops turned over that place they'd find a bootie of stolen stuff
I wouldnt care too much to be the one on the receiving end of this big fella.
Hope you find him Johnno.
Can I watch!!
And a second warning - from recent phone calls here at the shop all sorts of individual items are being picked up off the beach, from beside cars etc.
Be very wary guys. Its much more likely now there are less people on the beach and in carparks.
Great advice NickT - my insurance company is not sure they will pay out.... as the specific kite was not included in my surfing / sporting gear...... Ouch !!!
P.S Calmed down now, was very, very ****ty after breakin - adjusted comment about dude on bike as it may not have been this dude.
CGU contents insurance covers items up to $2000 each even when in the car. No need to specify or add extra cover, I checked it out a lot when renewing a few years back.
Not the cheapest insurance, but sometimes you get what you pay for.
I was wrong $5000 coverage with RAC and its $40 per month not yearly
.
I'd always read the fine print!!!
RAC will cover $5000 for personal valuables but max $1000 per item which won't buy a new kite but I'm unsure whether "sporting goods" count as one item or can be broken down eg Canopy, bar and lines, board etc.
The problem is the laws these days....ppl can break, enter and steal .... and it's a slap on the wrist....
But you go out and speed in yer car, and their onto ya like a fly on stink....
I got no problem with the coppers, dont get me wrong.... good job guys, but the law makers have no balls at all.
Do what they did to Bin Ladin, hunt the little Runts(with an C) down and Muck (with an F) them up...
Heard a great little story kinda related....
Guy I know got dog bashed with a chair from behind, when trying to stop a guy beating on someone else.... face re-co etc...anyhow... few weeks later the perp shows his face at a local pub.... and picks a fight with an ex Mai- Tai fighter and gets his ass kicked so bad... hospitalised for days with a knee re-co to come...
Karma does come around... just ask Boy George.
Yeah Jono, photo or at least a detailed description would be great, hundreds of guys reading this post. Thats a lot of 'eyes on the street".
Spewing mate, I know how you feel. I had my ute taken with 2 kites surfboards and Nasser up ute full of gear. I now lock everything in the back including my keys in a surflock locked onto my tow bar. Never had issues since
