Short notice but heading to Hotham this weekend with some mates. Want to take my kites and leave the group on Saturday for a day of snowkiting at the Orchard. Forecast looks promising with 15-20k winds. Anyone else keen?
Have kited Thredbo and NZ before but never Hotham so hoping someone else might be interested. Should be able to traverse from the Loch carpark across to the Orchard without too much effort. There's a section just outside the resort boundary where you can kite. Here's a link to a snowcam showing the spot. Great fun... despite the poor visability. It was quite overcast and a wee bit icy right at the top of the Orchard but just below and to the right was sweet. Loads of fresh snow. Wind was strong, easy 25-30 knots.
There was a cross country ski event on at the time. Think I freaked a few of em out as I kited uphill towards them 
Rode the resort on Sunday in near perfect conditions. All in all a very good weekend.
