Apologies Sammy. I thought it needed a heading mentioning 'the Pond"
I was surprised to see no one post this already. Anyway I guess this is a wake up call to those that think the rules don't apply to them. Now the council has publicly aired it's concerns they can say, "well we told you all to behave yourselves and get along like good little boys and girls".
Below is a link to an example of the guidelines, you'll find the same sign at all entry points to the pond for kiters and poley's alike.

It took a lot of time, effort, meetings, travelling and a hell of a lot of cooperation and understanding from a lot of areas to achieve the 'best possible for all' result in this particular beach access issue.
Kiters have been allocated the offshore inside butter section. What more could we ask for? The rest of the guidelines are so so so simple to work with that anyone who doesnt respect them deserves to be drummed out of town.
Seriously. If everyone is asked nicely to obey the 'guidelines' then those who dont should be made to realise they would be better off kiting elsewhere.
Not suggesting violence (or even agro) of any kind but constant hassling and annoying - then walking away - would soon get the message through. There was a group at melville a few years back that moved on of their own free will after their tyres all became flat every time they parked there???. Serious serial offenders - several pleasant requests to behave - no agro - no hassles - but a fair and just and positive outcome.
As the article says - it is all guidelines not enforcable regulations.
If the locals dont police it then start looking for a new beach.
The next move by the authorities will be very easily enforced - it will simply ban kiting altogether. No flat water ; no chop ; simply no kiting.
Abusing the privilege we have been awarded is selfish and stupid and, whats more, totally unnecessary.
The tourists wont care - they can just move on.
If you locals want it then its up to you now to keep it - for all of us.
It is that serious. Apart from its obvious local user appeal the Pond is the premium public viewing site in WA for potential national and international flat water events. We MUST keep it open.
Even the mayor agrees with this proposition.
Note his comment in the article....
"it (is) the responsibility of all parties to monitor the usage arrangements"
So step up to the plate monitors ????
Same sort of article in our local rag Melville Times about Attadale foreshore.
^^^ not to mention all of the spankers tramping through the vegetation there instead of just using the pathways provided.
yet every time the locals fire up at the blokes who are ruining it they come on here and have a winge about localism and all that crap, then they return the next day and behave the same.
sad thing is there is pretty much no locals left at the pond
It's the cultural issue in here and all over Oz. Not having respect to anything and anyone, thinking it's God given right to do whatever, is resulting in this.
Than, when we visit other countries, it's cultural shock for us ie. how people respect theirs elders, Gods, authorities, life in general, like driving on roads.
The society is worse day by day.
Why would I do the tyres, or become like them?
Yeah but if you have put up with all that terrible stuff in your homeland of Croatia then Australia should be a piece of cake. You cant be realistic comparing Australia to your homeland.
Shut up whining about how bad Australia is. You're here because Australia is awesome. Maybe you need to go back home for a holiday or a reality check?
