Hey guys,

Been a while since I've had a look, but what is available similar to the 2009 666's?

Ie squarish, light, and bendy ?

Nick

I once saw Dan from Cardboards with a prototype board that he could bend with his hands like it was a paddlepop stick. Not sure how many hard landings it could handle, but would certainly be fun finding out.

Nick I have the Cardboards model that burkey boy is talking about, it's called the SC.
It's super soft on your body and for landings, no probs on longevity. lmk if you would like a run on it.

Hey Nick
Sounds like you are looking for the Shinn Monk - it fits that bill exactly.
Do yourself a favour try one. If you cant find one give a me call & I'll sort it for you. They are available on the east coast now.
I havent had a chance to try the new Super Shinn yet but that may suit you even more if ur still freestyling.

the xenon la luz, would also be worth checking out as they are pretty flexible

Is the monk similar to the original Shin Pro? I have ridden that one

I had a 2009 Shinn Twin. It was superb in butter and ****e the rest of the time (and while the tips had a bit of flex, overall I'd rate it pretty stiff compared to most current boards). Try a range of new boards before you buy - things have come a long way since the 2009 666.

Yo Nick definitely give the shinn monk a go such a smooth board with a wicked feel to it, you can cruise with it or go as hard as you want , the laluz is also a very nice board with similar qualities, but the monk gets my vote, I've flogged it for over a season and she's still looking good, I've passed it around ,and never had a negative response, kiteworld .com has done some unbiased reviews on most boards maybe have a look, good luck.

Try the Xenon Laluz, or the Crazy Fly Shox, demos available.

Nothing at all like the Shinn Pro Nick. Though that was a pretty nice board in its day.
Trust me - Im a retailer now :-) - just give the Monk & the Super Shinn a run. Then decide for yourself.
Where are you these days ? Still in Newy? Let me know & I'll organise to get the boards to you myself. No gain for me at all in this - just for old times sake.

Cheers Puppet.

I'm working in Saudi Arabia - but back in a week for 3 weeks in Aus - 2 in Newy, 5 Days in perth end of May.

If you have ridden the monk and super shin - can you describe the difference for two boards similar sized ?

We've had the Super Shinn in for quite a while now but I still havent had a chance to give it a run. Its not been like any seabreeze season you remember Perth delivering.
I tend to go by others reports in any case but still cant give you any personal reports on the Super Shinn. A FIFO took it for 2 full weeks and didnt get one day out during his 2 weeks in town !!!
I'll pm you with any news I do get.

The Best Armada is another good choice, its light and moderate stiffness makes it a very fun poppy board and it's got nice landings, its profile would be very similar to the 666 with the thin rails and a square outline. The light wind efficiency of the board is very good as well.
