Hi all,

My car was stolen from the Middlerock Car Park at Lake Cathie (15 mins south of Port Macquarie) today. Was sailing at the time and was expecting the wind to increase so the car was full of windsurfing gear. I have tried to let all the local kiters know but quite a few of them were out at the time. I know many of the local kiters leave their cars unlocked with gear in them......be careful fellas, our quite local is different during the holidays. My key was in a surf lock attached to the underneath of the car...so I dont know how they lifted it????

I dont expect my gear to move in kiting circles, but I will post this anyway as many kiters are ex-poleys and will know about what I am posting......

If you come across anyone wanting to move the following gear, please let me know on (02) 65845 373 - my mobile was in the car so I will post my mobile # when I get a new # from Telstra. My wife's mobile is 0413184760, please contact her if you cant get me

Sails: 2006 Ezzy Wave SE sizes 4.5m, 5.2m + 5.8m dominemt colour orange, all in top nick.

Ezzy masts: 370, 400, 430

Board: Quatro Freestyle Wave 2006 85L- pretty good nick.

Happy to receive the gear back no questions asked if the person reading this was the culprit.....dont care about the car, which was by the way was a Metallic Blue Kluger 2004, NSW Rego: ES 737.......just want my gear....show me some love, give me my gear back please

Will post this in the NSW forum as well

Cheers

Adam

So much for the Happy New Year, is bad news and miserable way to end a good session.
Will keep eyes open, there were two dodgey looking guys, one with a Rat's Tail, shaved short hair wearing Blue shorts and thongs and no shirt in the car park just hanging around when we were setting up.
Hope 2011 gets better for you Adam, see you soon back on the water

Hey Richard,

Thanks a million for keeping a look out. That was the same description that I gave police (who just happened to be driving down middlerock road as I was about to make a call to the police), they we just nosing around far too much.............and that rats tail was so memorable too....I thought they looked far too stupid to do any harm!!!!!!......GREAT SESSION though I agree. At least I have the gear I was sailing on today, so I am down but not out. See you and the guys on the water again soon (once I organise another car - AAMI have been awesome to me so far)

Mr Float - You give me hope - Thanks

Big thanks to Nigel who drove way out of his way to get me home - thanks mate!

Hey Adam,

Did you have any luck getting any of your gear back or did they find your car? There have been some suspicious looking types hanging round the top carpark the last few weeks. I know I am going to be heaps more careful from now on!

Good luck & good winds

Adam

Did your car have one of those proximity "smart keys"?
Warning to anyone who does - I don't think they should be used in those keylock things that you attach to the towbar or towhook of your car.

^^^ - A Proximity key close to the car will allow the car window to be smashed and the push button ignition starter to be pressed, and the car gets driven off whilst the key is attached the towbar of the car.

Hey Ezza.......no luck unfortunately. AAMI wrote it off last week and gave me a cheque. Got to hand it to AAMI, speedy claim process for the car - 14 days), and am currently going through my home and contents cover with AAMI to cover some of the lost gear. Bought a diesel subaru outback last week which I am loving driving at the moment, fits my remaining gear in pretty easy.

@KitePower Australia: nope was a normal key with electronic head. Mistake I made was storing this key in a SurfLock under the car. Other guys in the windsurfing forum have told me they are hard to break open as you would expect, but easy to pick open when you know how. Now that could be an urban myth, but there was no broken glass at the scene, and the car had a factory fitted immobiliser, so they got into the surflock somehow, either by picking it or somehow bashing it open whilst laying under the car. Regardless, I wont be using one again.
