After getting back from a late arvo downwinder today from Castaways we found the car door had been forced open and a 2008 8m Switchblade had been stolen from behind the back seat of the Toyota dual cab. The glove compartment was opened as they were obvioulsy looking for a wallet or other valuables.

It has a red leading edge and struts and mostly white canopy so if it pops up for sale please let us know.

To all the kiters who use the car park pay attention for these low life. It happened between about 5.30 and 6.30 pm.

Thanks

Ian

If they are gay they will definitely be in Sydney by now. Go to a pub called the stonewall and look for a guy with a cabrinha t-shirt and high heels on, he will have twigs and branches in his hair from having been in a tree recently.

With all this talk about Cabrinhas being uncool and gay, I'm starting to feel insecure - best take the Cab sticker off the back of my car; might leave the rainbow one on though.

IanC - check out Cash Converters in Maroochydore - they've had dodgy kite gear there in the past.

I was back down for another downwinder yesterday arvo. Pulled into the car park at 4.30. I could not believe that as I jumped out the car I noticed a guy looking through the window of kiterboarder Martins van. Looked a bit suss, so I made sure I was out of his line of site.

A white toyota corrola had reversed in (for a quick gettaway) really close up to the van, like a really small, gap which was weird as there was plenty of space in the car park. The driver was in the car and the passenger did a another snoop in the back of the van until he saw my friend and I walk up. He jumped back in the car and they pulled out pretty quick. We walked towards them as they were pulling out just so that they knew we were onto them.

The guys were pale, not the type to see on the beach, late 20's to early 30's and both guys were without shirts on in the car. The driver was unshaven. Its an old 80's square style white toyota corrolla, rego starting with the no's "405".

Keep an eye out as they know kiters are on downwinders in the late arvo.

as an occassional interstate visitor here, I'm pissed to hear of this. I hope that someone rings the cops with the descriptions of the 'suspect' vehicle and people
... and catching them (with proof) during another act would be such a bonus

This has never happened. We seemed to be on an island looking at the WA thefts, looks like it has moved here.

Anyone keen to set up a hidden camera with a bait car?

Leave a car there with kiteboard stickers lots of gear in it . As soon as there is an attempt to break into the car and someone pokes their head in this thing opens up on them from across the road
.It will give them a bloody good fright and they will be easily identifiable
****in vermin .Time they were taught a lesson

I can not belive that you didn't get in your car when you first saw them scoping the van and reverse out and block the car park so they couldn't leave, then sit back and call the fuzz. You don't often get a chance to get stollen goods back.

Those a...............holes are playing with fire. Ian C you were kind enough to give me a lift back to my car (well I think it was you) the otherday so let me repay the favour by assuring you that if I find the prick who is stealing he or they will be eating through a straw for many months.

Blownaway, the only bloke I know up here with a blue jimmy lewis is you. Please tell me that aint so.

If they are stupid enough to be monitoring the Castaways carpark then they will get caught. Plus any person who is stupid enough to think there is anything of value in the back of Marty's van is an idiot so it will be an easier job to catch them.

Big thanks to seabreeze for enabling us to spread the word very quickly.

Here are some other options
This one would be good because you can get long range shots off and they wouldn't know what hit em

Or perhaps hide behind a car with some kind of ninja style disguise and jump out on them sparaying them with paintballs from this

Now being a little more serious .let things cool off a bit and get some aksa /sequa funds and pay for a surveillance officer to set a trap and bust the feckers in the act getting it all on video camera

Just to clarify that there were 2 events that occured.

1. On Thursday we arrived after the theft had accured at Castways, and the 8m switchblade was stolen from the Toyota Dual Cab. Nobody witnessed this happening.
2. On Friday arvo when we noticed some guys looking in the back of Martins Van. No theft occured, just witnessed suss activities and full licence plate has been passed on to the police.

I think it is best left to the police to determine if there is a link btw the 2 events.

Hopefully no one bashes glen thinking its Phils board lol. Perhaps we can body drag these bastards a couple of kms out to sea?

Hmmm... perhaps it was Phil all along, with his obsession with JL boards ... He is secretly hoarding them in a fallout bunker.

May I suggest attaching the chicken loop securely to the 'alleged' assailants nads and hot launching. Far better then a slap on the wrist with a lettuce leaf from the boys in blue.

Im sure a creative seabreezer can come up with an appropriate warning sign for the carpark to deter future scum.

How about; "Warning: If you steal a Cabrinha kite, you are gay!" Sorry, had to throw that in.

Seriously though, karma will catch up with these guys in some way. Will keep an eye out for any dodgy kites in the local pawn shops.

BTW: I fly a Cabrinha.
