This is a good one for interested local kiters to complete for your voice to be heard.

Perth/WA kiters are reminded that SLSWA is hosting a forum/workshop on kiteboarding safety & the development of some safety guideines, next Monday, 25th Feb 2013, @ SLSWA HQ, 7 Delawney Street Balcatta (just off Erindale Road), from 6pm to 9pm.

The workshop is OPEN TO ALL KITERS, regardless of WAKSA/AKSA membership.

The 'safety framework' being developed is similar in content to one developed for ocean paddling sports (SUP, canoes etc) which can bee seen here - www.oceanpaddling.org.au. The framework is focussed on safety issues, and is about establishing 'minimum standards' & best practice kiteboarding safety.

The framework has been an 18 month collaboration between WAKSA, Dep't of Sport & Recreation & SLSWA. There has been wide ranging consultation with various stakeholders such as WA Water Police, volunteer Sea Rescue Groups, local councils, Dep't of Transport, and kite schools.

If you are interested in contributing to the process, please register your attendance by emailing Belinda - [email protected] to let her know you're attending.

Hey Juddy,

I must have missed something. Being WA's biggest legal kite school, I don't understand why we haven't been consulted in this process??? If we haven't and other schools have, who was consulted, surely not the illegal schools???

We were invited by SLSWA and planned on attending last nights meeting before the cancelation and rescheduling of the meeting, but we have NOT been consulted at any stage of this plan.

What's up with that

Hi Darren

My understanding is that the workshop planned to give schools input was cancelled due to lack of interest/responses but that all schools have be 're-invited' to attend the workshop next Monday night.

With your years of experience Darren, it would be great if you could attend the workshop on Monday night & contribute to the process. Hope to see you there.
