have never heard of such a thing, what is this rubbish. Did you give up?
Its hard, the hardest thing and the most rewarding (almost) in my whole life. It took me about fifty goes before any comfort kicked in.
Please try again, dont limit yourself to being two metres of the water max, imagine 3/4/5/6/7/ holy shi$ theres no limit.
If you cant be persuaded, good luck ![]()

just curious, how did you decide windsurfing is your thing? I.e. have you windsurfed before taking up kiting, in which case i'd suspect it would be unlikely that you would have sold the gear before making sure you really want to pursue kiting...
anyhow, as long as there is wind, and you are cruising on the water, you can't not have fun...
If kiting was a struggle.........
you have no chance of windsurfing ......it is a lot lot harder and takes much longer to even be slightly decent.
Perhaps consider other options like boogie boarding or goat boating.
I've been windsurfing for 15yrs mostly inland where I live' 3hrs from the nearest beach,The wind here can be very inconsistant on a windsurfer you have the bouyancy to carry you through the lulls.
learn to kite it can be done all year round. Ask yourself how blowy did it get during the last winter?
I too am an old windsurfer, got peed of with all the gear etc, became single and bought a heap of power kites and a buggy, am set cannot wait until it blows like fark up here, spots are every where once you have an objective look about.
Then next spring /summer back to the coast, and finish the water side of kiting.
Unlucky mate i reckon windsurfing is harder. Get some modern kites 09/10 models your old kites could be your downfall.
If it's positive feedback you're after why not just sell your kites and gear on the classifieds and pickup some windsurfing gear with the money?
G'Day wham,
My comments were positive. Your gear is what is making it so damn hard for you. Get yourself some modern gear and set aside a month or two and you'll have it sorted.
I windsurfed for 17 years at a reasonable level and you couldn't pay me to go back to it. The only reason I can think of wind surfing over kiting is ....... Ummmm ....... OK, so I can't think of a good reason.
Seriously, stick with it, get decent instruction on late model gear and you'll be smilin'. Keep the board, but trade up the rest.
Cheers,
KH
Try posting on the windsurfing forum. Presumably they are more likely to have lots of windsurfing gear lying around.
Of course, we're still curious how you worked out windsurfing was your thing. I sold all my windsurf gear 8 years ago, and a mate recently sold a lifetimes collection of windsurf stuff for not much money (exotic race boards, wave boards, multiple carbon masts and sales and the trailer he carried it in, etc).
Hi wham. I can understand you are kiting inland and it can get a bit gusty or on and off and thats why you want to go back to wind surfing cause you dont drop into the water when the wind drops. I have to agree with kitehard on the fact that your gear is a bit old. I kite at a lake inland from Noosa from time to time and it can be the same at times but if you use an up to date kite and maby a bigger board you wont have the problems your having now.
Just a thought...
Thanks JAS73 you hit the nail right on the head. Looks like there is still some support out there I might persevere for another month or so before I sell any gear.as for buying more modern gear if someone out there has the money I'll go shopping, but I don't have the dough to buy anything 08/09
so I'll have to be happy with what I've got .
I've got a 9' mal, my son has a 5'5" thruster, wich would be better?
unless someone wants to swap a larger board for my mal.or just sell the mal to buy a larger board.
