Before I start I have used the search function, I have used google and I have done my own research

I am struggling to find an appropriate travel insurance policy- due to being temporary resident I.e on a 457 visa most ordinary travel insurance companies will not insure me

The only company I have found so far is nomads but that is really backpacker insurance, cover is not high enough for the amount of gear I have and it's very expensive

Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

^^^ luck there is an insurance brokers on here.

Hi English Craig,
Just get yourself an Aussie passport, you still get to keep your UK one, but it might increase the urge you have to highlight you are English to everyone you meet.

If you're looking for travel insurance to go overseas while working in Australia on a 457 I think most travel insurance do cover you. For instance I got my cover with www.scti.com.au which says

You and the other people to be insured are, either an Australian citizen or permanent resident with no visa restrictions, or a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident with no visa restrictions who resides in Australia, or on a work permit which allows for a continuous stay of at least two years in Australia;

They're pretty good value too, but there's a couple of travel insurance comparators out there to look at different options!

Hey, if you are planning on travelling with kiteboarding gear do check the policy for the "luggage coverage exclusions." Most of the policies I read trying to find travel insurance exclude "waterborne craft" ie kiteboarding gear. I ended up going with Masterman insurance which I found through the Yachting Australia website
