Visited AKS in Scarb on Saturday to fit out my dad and book him some lessons. Just wanted to say a big thank you to Darren. He wasn't pushy at all, in fact the opposite. Suggested getting lessons before even buying gear, which is a rarity in the experience I have had so far. This approach for myself means I will give you guys and all the people I refer exclusive mention.

He was also big on the safety aspect, which when you are introducing your 50 something father is an important factor. Was glad to hear they teach self-rescue etc before even going out. Believe it or not, I myself learnt last season at Melville Beach and this was not even mentioned. Only "Ok here's the emergency pull, give this a yank if it goes to sh@#t". I look back now and am actually concerned that this advice was not giving even though it was a “reputable” retailer sponsored school. Im all for learning by experiencing, but some things need to be taught before you just go out there. Would be intersted to hear your experience on learning techniques.

Look forward to kiting up at pinnas this season, and hope to meet some more of the local crowd, considering it's about a 100m walk from the house.

Ps. I'll be in to get the new FO harness next week.

Thanks

Great to hear it worked out for you and your dad. Yeh we told you so, the guys at AKS I reckon are leaving the pack in terms of service.

That's the good thing about DM. He's in this sport because he loves it.

Yes you can make a profit if you work hard, but you should never compromise on the way.
