Hi all

Just waned to say a massive thanks to everyone who helped me out on Sunday 8th Jan on the beach in Shoalwater/Safety Bay. Having been out body dragging and preparing to try the board, I was standing on the shore and got hit by a surprise gust and cartwheeled face first along the beach, unconscious. Thanks Joy and Mark for getting me out of the water quickly, and for everyone else who rushed up the beach to assist (and rescue my kite!).

One ambulance drive and some X-rays later, I'm pleased to say nothing broken- just a pretty sore/ stiff neck and shoulder.

Im so grateful to know there were people out there looking out for me, and banding together to help a stranger. Thanks again- if you know anyone who was involved, please pass this on!

yowza..

Sunday was pretty heavy wind, very gusty. Its always a good idea especially if you are new to the sport or the location to ask somebody on the beach who has just been out how the conditions are (i.e gusty, choppy, strengthening, easing, onshore, offshore) if any dangers lurk beyond the beach (i.e areas of no wind, tree stumps, seaweed, fishermen, SHARKS!?!?! hehe) and maybe even what kite size they used/ recommend.

i try to anyway, no one spot is ever the same again.
good to hear your up and going again, hope you'll get back out there soon!

Thanks for the thoughts Mywisdom- I certainly learnt the hard way that every time you go out the conditions change and I can see what a good idea it is to chat to others who've just come in to shore for a first hand assessment of what's cooking out there!

Neptune- apparently I hit the beach head first, the impact of which knocked me out and flipped my feet over my head so I landed on my back in the shallows. Luckily my mates nearby had the instant reaction to pull the safety on my kite as I had landed in the lines- it could have been really much worse.

Keen to get out again after a bit of a rest :)
Cheers guys!
