Geez , It seems like January howls and February gets a little variable. Granted the Northern lows have sucked the life out of the seabreezes but they where present in January as well.
The image is from last 30 metro area. I figure Gero would be windier still.
Sorry. Dont know why its blacking out.
january has actually been pretty **** this year . Infact the whole season has been pretty ****
Easterlies gustier than they were last season and lack of seabreezes .
**** happens with kitestock
Sure , But i still kited at least half the month and could have kited more but I was broken!!
Just putting it out there....
you take what mother nature dishes up sometime good, sometime crap, we have weather forecasters and they seem to get it right sometimes
sometimes sh t happens
Hi Peeps,
Kitestock should definately be in mid November, the windiest month. Apart from good breeze, you could also demo kites at the START of the season instead of the end.
Feb is always Dodgy!
DM
Yeah DM is on the money, having grown up up there it has always been hotter after Chrissy which means easterlies and troughs and thunderstorms. The winds are alot more consistant before Chrissy.
Goodluck guys and girls unfortunately i cant be there, the parties should still be crackers though.
Good call DM..maybe even a venue change for some new scenery...is there anywhere with space, flkat water and waves in the same local?
Kitestock is season closing event. how many times do you have to hear it again, or just start your own product marketing event some time early in the season, cause thats all you really want
Ray is on the money. Kitestock is about kiters getting together as the season winds down; catching up and chilling. It's not nor should never be commercially oriented.
From a retailers perspective it's the wrong end of the season. So the retailers need to get together and organize a demo weekend in November when we are all chomping at the bit to try the latest gear.
Leave Kitestock as it is.
I didnt hear a single complaint last year about kitestock, we all know it has been a pretty **** and un-predictable season but it hasn't stopped everyone from having fun up here!!
I agree with Darren about having it in November as it will be the best way to demo new kites, I reckon we need to have it closer too as then it opens it up to more people and perhaps we can get more brands/smaller shops involved.......?
Hey Guys,
Just got back.
Waksa did a great job, well done - considering the conditions. Good evenings and party, welldone.
But lets be realistic, it sucked, I go to Kitestock to kite and demo gear.
Plain and simple.
I can drink and talk sh!t anytime.
You can't do much about the wind, except move the dates to a more guaranteed time when cyclones, etc are not prevalent.
And if it was not for the dealers, it would have sucked a whole lot more - I think around 8 kites were given away and assortment of boards.
The dealers pump a whole lot of money in without much guarantee of return, well done guys.
By the way next weekend looks like it cranking, isn't this the normal weekend that Kitestock is on, but I think things got shuffled around to accomodate the racing.
Please note, this is not an attack on WAKSA.
Next year I will pay alot more attention to the forecast before committing.
Cheers
Rich
Well I had a great time. Met many great people. Wave kited (all thursday arvo), swam in the 27 degree water, had a bit of a go catching some waves on the logs (read Sups), surfed up the coast sat and had an enjoyable time relaxing.
Was very impressed with Juddy, the WAKSA crew and all the helpers. Bloody legends. Full marks. They pushed on and made the event happen while others had the opportunity to relax.
I'm from a surfing background and have learnt to understand that epic conditions don't align with the calender. Hundreds of missions have not lived up to expectations over the last 15 years because the swell or wind forecast changed slightly or didn't happen. It's a fact of life...
One can enjoy the day, try new things and make the most of a beautiful day at the beach or one can spend that time having a cry. It's a personal choice.
Here's to 3 days of 20+ knot onshore wind at Kitestock in 2012.
it wouldnt matter if you made the event free and covered it in chocolate you will still get negative, non constructive crap from the usual a??????s
you d??????hds need to go and live somwhere less fortunate than here and have appreciation for the place you live in and most of the people that live here
i had a great time, yeah no wind so what, its basically a social event
absolutly spoilt in wa for wind, big f???in deal you dont get to kite for a couple of days, if you dont want to talk to people go and kite on your own and dont whinge on here
well run, well catered for event, congrats to all involved who make it happen
thanks to all the crew i got to hang with all weekend and kite with wed/thurs when it was cranking(very lucky), had a ball so did the family, good luck for next year
^^^
Planned 10 days while here for kitestock, I think they will be the worst 10 days WA has seen
, but hey you got just make the most of the conditions and have a good time anyway ![]()
